Hi all,

So I have a black cat with a white spot on her neck. She likes most standard kitten food that you buy from Walmart or any other grocery store, but she will not eat as much of this new stuff I got her which is exactly this stuff:

I bought two 11 lb bags for around $45 with free shipping. Shes eating the stuff, but very slowly. It's been 5 days that shes been on it. Should I still be worried?.

Just like people, cats have different likes and dislikes...some can be VERY fussy indeed (and I know you know what I'm talking about Kat0121 Kat0121 ;) ).

It sounds to me like your kitten just isn't very keen on this particular food. Mixing it with another dry food that she loves might help her learn to like it. So long as she's as enthusiastic as normal about her other food (I assume you're feeding wet food too) I wouldn't be too concerned :)

Don't I ever? I have THREE picky eaters. I agree that it sounds like she isn't crazy about that particular food.

Are you opposed to feeding wet food? If not, I'd get a few cans of wet food and let her try them out. it's much easier to switch foods when you are feeding wet than it is with dry. My cats never eat the same food two meals in a row and I often mix foods to give them different proteins and textures in the same dish.

For example, this morning for breakfast, I took two 3 ounce cans of Soulistic Good Karma (shredded white meat chicken in a broth like gravy) and split those between the 3 dishes. Then I took a can of Wellness sliced turkey and split that between the 3 dishes. I added their probiotic and stirred it in. I also often will pair a pate with shredded or cubed or sliced food.

If you find some canned foods that your cat likes, you can then buy them in bulk from Chewy and rotate them. I do feed dry but not much. it's used as a topper/mix in more than a main part off the meal. If you want some canned food suggestions, let me know. Our rotation includes foods ranging from Friskies and Fancy Feast to Weruva and many in between. If your cat likes the Friskies/Fancy Feast foods, I'd suggest sticking to the pates. Those are lower in carbs than the ones with the gravies.
