Ooooohh boy..... I'm going to have one wild year coming up! My best friend and I are taking 3 weeks at the end of May-early June for a trip through B.C and the Yukon. When I get back home, I have to work my tail off because (if all goes well), I'll be moving to Ontario and going back to school! It will be my first time living on my own, and to add a little spice to the situation, I'm taking the dog with me! The course is only 1 year long, and hopefully by the end of it, I'll have the knowledge I need to get started in a new career. (I have been grooming professionally for 4 years, and I ADORE my job, but I injured my back a few years ago, and it's getting worse, so I'm going to have to think about finding something else to do. But I want to stay in the animal industry, which is where the course comes in.)

Another thing that worries me is that I'm going to have to quit my job. A job I LOVE, with people I LOVE working with....
that's the biggest downer in this whole shabang...

I want to wish you all the best for the year - it certainly sounds as if it is all planned out and I am happy for you. I hope it all goes according to plan!

Hugs!

Have a marvelous trip. It is going to be wonderful. Speaking of taking pets north, (mumbledy) years ago, when Jim was in the service,
we drove from the east coast to Prince Rupert, BC, across Canada, thence by Alaskan ferry to Juneau. Camped all the way. Towed a trailer, no less. And Kiki, our lady Siamese, accompanied us.

Turned our map around and returned to Washington, DC a couple of years later. This time in a VW camper, with three Siamese, Kiki, Ruffles and Flourishes -- once again camping all the way. Coming south on the Alaskan ferry we had three seasick Siamese, three seasick sons, and seasick me. Jim, the old salt, reveled in the weather and ate for all eight of us.

All in all this is a trip everyone should have, and we were fortunate enough to do it twice. You will have a ball.

James Brown, you just reminded me of a story my mom told me. Before they moved to Montreal, my mom and dad did a lot of traveling. And when they got 2 kittens (Maggie and Jiggs), they decided to take them camping with them. Since they didn't have carriers, they left the cats in the car overnight while they camped. Mom told me that she and my dad were woken up in the middle of the night by blinding flashing lights. The cats had stepped on the turn signals!!

I can sympathise! I went on a school trip to New Brunswick in my last year of high school. One of the activities was to go on a whale watching boat tour. The entire group of half a dozen or so students all got queezy because the water was choppy. Everyone, that is, except my best friend (yes, the same that's going to B.C and the Yukon with me), who was cheering "more waves! More waves!" Everyone else eventually ended up in the cabin. 4 people asleep at the table, 4 people asleep on the beds, and me, who couldn't find a better place to sit, fell asleep on the stairs!
Gravol will do that to you!

If I can find a reasonably priced appartment (ha!) that allows pets, I'm going to try for Brampton. Otherwise, I'll live in Toronto and commute. The school is in Brampton.
