Sounds good. Tomorrow morning is her last dose of pain meds, so we'll see how she does when she isn't getting those anymore. She seems to be feeling excellent right now. So it'll be interesting to see how it goes after the pain medication is gone.

She really wants to play, so we've been letting her play a bit with a laser and with soft toys when the cone is off.

Today has been good. Angua is feeling great and is acting totally normal. She stopped eating so much today so I guess she probably was just making up for lost calories when she was figuring out how to eat with the cone.

My main complaint is the Yesterday's News litter. It is seriously the worst cat litter I ever have used. I had to change out the whole pan of litter today after just five days of it being used. It stinks. I will be glad to be free of it after the two weeks we have to use it for.

Lol... I can only imagine (regarding the litter) :D
I would be ready for that part to be over also

Happy to hear such positive updates on sweet Angua [emoji]128149[/emoji]

Late to this, but after Abby had her dental she ate SO MUCH for a few days. It may have something to do with the anesthesia. I'm glad she's doing OK so far. How much longer with the cone?

Poor Carrot. :( I wonder if a baby gate on the door would be better so they could at least see each other?

I'd need something more like a screen door. I've seen both of them jump over five feet. I have been letting them spend time together when we're home, but he still is stressed out a bit.

Tomorrow will be a full week from her surgery. Any ideas on when the cone can come off? Also I noticed her claws are getting insanely long. When do you guys think we could start clipping them again?

I'm feeling a bit anxious about how the incisions are healing now. The adhesive has been flaking off leaving something that still really seems like an open wound, not a deep open wound, but still an open one. I am a bit worried about them healing properly especially now the antibiotics have also been finished off. I will have to look at them when I get home to see if they look any better, but this morning they were looking very painful.

Additionally, there was a piece of adhesive that was dried between two of her other toes. I know I probably shouldn't have, but I let her work on getting this adhesive off since it seems like this was annoying to her and it wasn't too close to the toes that were actually operated on. Turns out the adhesive was covering a gash in her toe which then bled.
I'm guessing this might have happened during surgery and they used the adhesive to patch it up. I am a bit annoyed if this is the case since they should have let me know.
I definitely wouldn't have let her lick this area if they had told me there was a reason they put adhesive there.

In general, I'm starting to dislike the adhesive as a substance to close wounds. It doesn't really seem to work well. Admittedly, I can't say stitches would work better. This area of the body seems like a pain to stitch up as well since her paws naturally splay making it so the incision flexes.

If you have concerns about how the paws are healing, always best to consult a vet. They will know what is and is not ok in regards to healing. If you don't feel comfortable with their answer, seek a second opinion.

Agreed, get a second opinion.  I didn't like answers from my vet back in January and changed to a new one.  It made all the difference in the world. I get answered quickly which are to the point, not sugar coated.  Best of luck.

They say all is good, but to keep an eye on it and bring her in if there is swelling or oozing. Basically, the scabs have just split during the healing process.

This is what they look like.

She doesn't seem to be in any pain so I am not super worried if the vet says its okay.

Just wanted to update on the healing process. Seems like her feet are looking a lot better and are healing well. She doesn't seem to be in any pain, although sometimes when she grabs something or jumps on something she shakes her paw like this action wasn't super comfortable.

She's been having supervised time without the cone and with Carrot around. We've mostly been letting him stay with her in the master bedroom and bathroom when she's in her cone if we're anywhere in the house. I think this is beneficial to healing (and hopefully limiting him peeing on anything else). Came in to the room to find them snuggling in their window ledge.

I am hopeful that she'll be fully healed soon so they can spend time together all day again.

Wow, they look amazing. It sounds like Angua is in great spirits as well. Was she okay with you handling her paws when you trimmed her nails?

You have definitely been a wonderful cat mom!

She was actually much more relaxed than she has ever been about getting her nails clipped. She used to freak out when I clipped the front claws because the ones that we had removed would hurt her when they were clipped. She was totally chill the entire time I was clipping her nails so she must know those nails won't be bugging her again.

That is fantastic news. It's amazing she's noticed such a difference such a short time after the surgery. That sounds like pretty good confirmation that you did the right thing for your baby!

:yeah: It definitely was the right decision. Her paws look good. :vibes::vibes::vibes: that the second one is completely healed in a couple of days.

Angua is showing me how important having claws is to her. She wasn't really scratching on anything for the first week after surgery (presumably it hurt).  This week she has been tearing at everything she can get her claws into with gusto. She's having so much fun ripping at the cat tower now that she is feeling better.

I'm so glad that they only removed the two claws that were harming her and didn't have to take any more.
