I live in a one bedroom one bath apartment upstairs in Phoenix Arizona, an my cat had found a scorpion not real sure when! But when I woke up real early in the morning to change my 4 month old sons diaper it was just laying on the floor an didn't move or run away at all. I have been extremely paranoid after I saw it just laying there of course I went to grab a ton of toilet paper an picked it up and flushed it down the toilet now I have been hunting for more ever since with a black light; so far I haven't seen anymore but I haven't been getting anymore sleep because of it I have been keeping my eyes open so that way my son doesn't get stung in the middle of the night by any my son is my first child an I am doing whatever every mother I am sure would do an that is protect their child big time, I make sure that he isn't the one who gets stung or bitten by anything dangerous if it came right down too it I would rather be the one to get stung or bitten by something small and dangerous like a black widow/brown recluse spider or even a scorpion I am not going too take any chances what so ever-- being a first time parent my motherly instinct is too make sure that my son is safe an I would be the one too make sure that I take the pain and not him but from my experience my cat doesn't seem like he was stung at all he has just seemed more tired than usual but nothing horrible or out of the ordinary. I am at least extremely thankful that my cat killed such a dangerous creature so that it wouldn't go anywhere near my son an ever since my cat killed the scorpion he has stayed by my sons side 24/7 and hasn't ever left him alone at all!

That sounds like a really scary experience.  I can't imagine what I would do if I saw something like that in my home (and am glad I live in the UK where such things are not common).  What a relief your cat is OK, and yet, that no harm was done to your child.

Does your cat go out at all?  Is it possible the scorpion and killed it outdoors then brought it in to the apartment to show you?
