Sorry for the slightly disgusting topic....

In a thread in IMO, the Body Farm came up in the discussion. It's a research site where they study how different factors affect the decomposition of human bodies.

Anyways, the director, Bill Bass, has come out with a book about the Body Farm, titled "Death's Acre". Just some info for those that might be interested (hey, Kellye
)

I saw a special about The Body Farm a year or so ago on TV. It was in relation to helping forensic scientists determine how long it takes a body to decompose in the natural environment. Fortunately, all of the bodies used on the farm are the result of those who wanted to be donated to science.

I think I saw that docu too.
Did you see the Autopsy show where they did a real autopsy on a man? (Baden did the autopsy)
I love forensic anthropology and so I have a few books of that - I highly recommend 'Dead Men do Tell Tales' by William Maples.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I love this sort of subject!.
A friend of mine is an undertaker, and i love to hear his stories.

I would have loved to have taken taking this up as a career when i was younger, but it's too much to take in and i never have the time.

People think i'm a ghoul for thinking such a thing, but 'someone' has to do it!, and i know my friend takes great pride in his work.

Kellye, I've read that book and I've got a reserved on "Death's Acre", at my local library. They don't have it on the shelves, yet.

I like solving puzzles and, if things had been different, I think I'd have liked to be a forensic technologist.

Cindy - when you read Deaths Acre, let us know how good it is, I would love to hear about it - I haven't seen it around here - mind you, we are a little behind on books

According to my library's website, it is a very new book and they are processing it, for distribution to the various branches.

It should be out now, or very soon-I saw a review in the Washington Post Book World. BTW, the woman who wrote "Stiffed" reviewed it and she loved it. Her only disappointment was there weren't more pictures of decomposed bodies (only 2)

I live a little over an hour away from the body farm.

Some of you may find this digusting, but a few of us from school wanted to take a sort of like "field trip" there.
I think one of the professors asked, but they wouldn't let us.
Oh well,I woulda probably ended up with nightmares anyway.
