HI, everyone,

About 12 days ago I rescued a cat, about 10 months old, and took her to the vet who gave her an operation to repair her broken jaw. She also lost an eye. The vet said it will take between 1 and 2 months for her to recover. I am caring for her at home, with my 7 rescue cats. I have to keep her and my cats apart, at least for the time being, until, hopefully she is more accepting of them. My cats seem to understand she needs to be here.

Meanwhile, I am looking for a loving forever home for her, preferably in Europe or America, where I hope people will treat an adopted animal as a member of the family, not to be tossed out when they get sick or when the family gets bored of it, something we have begun to see a lot of here, unfortunately.

I will, of course, spay/neuter the cat and give her all the vaccines and chip.

Would anyone here be interested in adopting her? are there other places anybody knows about where I can also post about this?

Thanks.

Hi and thanks for rescuing her

Unfortunately exporting an animal can be an expensive and time consuming process. To bring a cat in from Egypt to the EU it will need a rabies shot, a microchip, and a blood sample, and the animal would not be able to travel for 3 months from the date the blood sample is taken.  The rabies vaccine also can't be the local version but must be an international version. The transportation of the animal itself is also expensive. Quite honestly, I think the chances of you finding someone from the EU or North America who wants to go through all this trouble, especially when many MANY cats also need homes throughout north America and in almost all EU countries, is almost nonexistent

This is nothing personal against you but I'd also caution members who may be reading this NOT to send you any money up front since this might be a scam, and to only do this if you are willing to pay the expenses detailed above up front. You may want to arrange for reimbursement to occur once the recipient is in possession of the cat. Again, this is nothing personal against you, but people have to be aware of the risks they are taking online.

Good luck finding a forever home for the cat.

This is definitely not a scam. I haven't asked anybody for money. I just asked for help finding the cat a home. I didn't even post asking for donations in Egypt for the cost of the operation, which is pretty high. All I care about is to find someone/a family who will consider this cat a part of their home/family.

I am aware of the procedure and the costs, because I read about cats and dogs finding homes outside Egypt for the reasons I mentioned earlier: I am not sure that a cat that lost an eye will find somebody to care for and love her here, when people are throwing away their Persian and other cats.

I found it ironic that a country that once treated cats as gods are now throwing them out on the street.

I am also in the middle east though so I do believe you that it is happening.

I think your best bet is to find an anglo family in Egypt that will take the cat in rather then flying it across the world.

I didn't think of that. it takes someone from another country to see these ironic situations.

I was busy caring for the cat until now. I will post about her in more than one group on facebook, and hopefully find someone soon.

Thanks for the idea.

Please feel free to post her pictures and share her story with us. You never know who might see her or know someone who is in a position to help or just spread the word.

It sounds like you are a true friend of our cat companions and do a lot of good for those around you, we are happy to have you at TCS... Welcome :wavey:
