Sore on cat's neck/side of face

Hello all,

Woke up this morning and wifi had a sore near his face. He seems chipper as ever and unphased but obviously I'm worried about him. He's about 9 months old. Anyone seen something similar to this? A scratch from playing on furniture too crazy? Or allergic reaction?

I personally would take him to see the vet to be safe. This could be any number of things and a vet would be in the best position to tell you with some certainty what's going on.
