Do you know any healthy “dental” chews/treats for cats? I have two cats. One of them has IBD, and other had bladder stones. My IBD cat has an allergy to chicken, so I need to stay away from poultry. She also has tiny liver stones…

I used to give them Virbac C.E.T. dental Chews and sometimes Greenies Dental Chews, but the CET has poultry digest, and the Greenies has bad ingredients, so I stopped giving them.

If you know any healthy dental chew/treats, I could give them to my IBD & bladder stones cats, please let me know.

I've heard Greenies can irritate some animal's digestive systems, so it's a good thing you stopped giving them. Quite honestly, I don't know of any treats that actually clean teeth. Cats don't chew very much; their teeth are made for tearing. If your cat likes to chew on small raw bones (like from a chicken's neck) that might help, but otherwise teeth brushing is the best option.

Hi Molly92, thank you so much for the tips! I used to brush their teeth regularly, but I stopped, because I didn’t want to cause my IBD cat stress. Very fortunately she gets well! I was thinking to brush their teeth again, but they hate it so bad!! So, I thought it would be great if I can find the healthy dental chews for them,,, but I guess not... I don’t think my cats like to chew on raw bones… Well, I’ll start to brushing their teeth again.

Exactly so!

Our cats enjoy having their teeth brushed because they love their toothpaste, from CET, which is like a treat for them. I also give them a little snack (of some food thet particularly like) right after brushing. They like this all so much that they remind me about brushing if I'm late!

That’s good for you! I used the some of the CET toothpastes, but my cats didn’t enjoy them… ;_;
