Hi, I'm Hawke. I've lurked around for quite some time, but recently joined when I needed some advice. I posted in another forum and totally forgot to post here!
I've had cats since before I can remember. As a family, I don't think we've ever had fewer than 3, and one time we had 13! The average has always been 5 though.
I myself am currently owned by 4.
Pooka is over 10 years old, and a HUGE short haired lynx point. 18 pounds and the vet says he could actually do to gain a couple more pounds. He's just HUGE. I adopted him from a no-kill rescue as a kitten who'd been born stray. He's the only one I ever went out intentionally to get. I wanted a super friendly lynx point.
Ki'Lin is a medium haired grey and beige tabby with a big ruff. She was born to a feral cat I started feeding, and ultimately got fixed and homed. I tried to find a new home for Ki'Lin, but 3 tries and they all brought her back to me because she refused to sleep or eat or go potty and just wandered around yelling until they brought her back, where she made herself at home with me again. XD
Rosie looks to be a snowshoe, but only God knows because she was found as a kitten in a dumpster! She had a little bit of lavender paint on her ears and tail, like she'd been 'helping' as only kitties can. Other than being hot and thirsty, she really was none the worse for wear, but no one claimed her, so now she's mine.
Lastly is Teekie, a little brown tabby barn kitten my sis-in-law originally adopted, but Teekie just wasn't fitting in well with their family. So, I took her in last July. Teekie nearly died a month later. We've been working with our vet for a solid 6 months now, and only just determined that she likely has Celiac Disease. We've been testing foods and stuff and we finally have her feeling better and acting like a nice kitty instead of a feral fiend!
I also share my life with 2 dogs, 2 salamanders, 2 bullfrogs, a 30 gal tropical fish tank, a 20 gal goldfish tank, and a hybrid raven! I've kept just about everything over my life, and I've even done some wild animal rehabilitation, mostly with birds.
Let's see... I have a bachelors of science in psychology, but I am currently a professional fish tank maintenance person for employment.
Anyways, glad to be here, and looking forward to meeting folks!
