Hi everyone! On my other account I posted how I recently lost my 1 year old kitten, Orchid, to feline leukemia. In an effort to heal and bear the pain of losing her, my boyfriend surprised me with a tiny little girl, Addie! She has been such a joy - super affectionate, sweet, and exactly what I feel like I need in my life during such a difficult time. Addie is up to date on all vaccines and the vet says that other than a little respiratory infection, she's totally healthy. She's currently taking two 0.5 doses of amoxicillin twice a day for the next 1-2 weeks and has seemed to really become more alert and have more energy. However, she is terribly congested and is sneezing like crazy[emoji]129298[/emoji] I've given her wet food to keep her eating (totally worked!) and have a humidifier in my room in addition to bringing her into the bathroom with me when I take a shower (a suggestion by her vet). Does anyone else have any other ideas as to how I can help my little Addie clear her sinuses a bit? I'm not expecting a drastic change over night of course, but if there's something else that I'm not doing that could help her feel better please let me know. Thanks guys![emoji]128049[/emoji][emoji]128149[/emoji]

Basically you are doing exactly what is needed to help her, I can add that Little Noses is helpful in temporarily clearing her nose too.

It's super safe saline so can't use it too much, in where you find baby meds.

It just takes a bit of time is all.

If no improvement after a good 4-5 days on antibiotics, she should be switched to clavamox or doxycycline.

How long are the steaming sessions when you are taking a shower?   When I did the steam treatment for my cats it was usually 15-20 minutes 2-3 times a day.  When I was working part-time and I was using steam treatments sometimes I would go 4 times a day.

You are doing a great job taking care of Addie.  It is great that you got in her into the vet quickly and got her medicine.

Thank you guys for your advice! I called Addie's vet who suggested using the Little Noses as well, so I'm planning on picking some up tomorrow morning. And with regards to the steam sessions, Addie stays in the bathroom for 15-20 minutes 1-2 times a day. I figured with the humidifier that would be okay but if she's still not making more progress by Sunday I can definitely have her go in more often. She was sneezing pretty often and pretty heavy tonight so I think that's a good sign! I'll keep you all updated - thanks again!!

My 11 month old kitty was super congested and we did 10 minutes REALLLLY steamy sessions in the bathroom and saline solution and he was good to go.  He was also taking Lysine.  You are doing all the right things!
