I feed kittens and cats in my university campus. The campus is, in general, friendly to felines-but there is shortage of food. So I feel as many as I can.

This morning I went to feed them as usual and found one of them lying dead...

Since it was a holiday, I managed to bury her in my campus without anyone attempting to interfere.

I have lost kittens before. But this time, it is turning out to be specially difficult to deal with...

How do you deal with finding something as innocent as her just lying dead in a corner?

I'm so very sorry you lost this kitten.  Losing one suddenly with no warning can be especially traumatic - it's such an outright shock and you don't always know what happened.  It's very, very kind of you to feed the campus cats - this sounds like a place that could benefit from someone experienced in TNR work.  If only everyone cared as much for these cats and kittens as much as you do.  I think everyone has their own way of dealing with the loss but one thing that seems to help a lot of people here is to post about the kitty in the Crossing the Bridge Forum.  http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge   Most members here know what you're going through and it's good to share about the kitten - to memorialize her little life, to show it had meaning.

RIP little kitten.

Really sorry to hear of the loss of your little kitty friend. There are many of us who know how hard it is to adjust and carry on without the cats we love. I am also here on TCS seeking more understanding. I had a young kitty leave this earth last year. Being here is a good first step in the grief process, surrounded by those who understand. You are doing great work helping the cats on your campus. Please continue as that will be good therapy. There are no quick answers or shortcuts. Time eventually helps.

Hello, i am new on this site. I know how hard it is to cope with the loss of cat. I had to get our beautiful friend put down 3 wks ago, and i am finding it hard to get through every day. Wurzel turned up at our house 4 1/2 yrs ago, and we had a wonderful life together. Sadly he was unwell. We miss him so much. My thoughts are with u. What a kind person you are to feed all those kitties in the first place. The world needs more people like you who care. It will get easier over time. I have just adopted two new black kittens like my wurzel. Their happy faces cheer me up some.
