First and foremost. .so that this will be informative and not a bunch of unnecessary junk. I worked for rhe SPCA in vineland, nj for many years....yes...this was an accident. ...yes everyone has seen the vet at ine week ...yes my mommy cat has a spay appointment at 6 weeks. ....yes all babies have set up forever homes....no they are not taking away from potential pets being resxued from shelters..all kittens are going to homes that have multiple cats ( those that didn't know they wanted another) and my parents ( that fell on love at first sight and this is the first pet that they never knew they wanted ) .........so anyway. My (mommy cat) is indoor out door. She is a rescue. She came from a home over ran with cats and much to my dismay was un litter trainable. I would like to litter train the kittens for their future owners. How do i go about doing that with out mommys help?

Thank you for being so responsible!

To litter train the kittens you'll need 2-3 small pans filled with non-clumping litter. I recommend aluminum, disposable pans to start with. Put them around the room where the kittens spend most of their time. When they begin to wean to solids, begin putting the kittens in the pans after each meal and between meals, and take a little paw and show them how to dig. Cats have a natural instinct for digging and covering, and prefer to be clean, so they usually catch on very quickly. They also watch each other! I use doggie pee pads around the pans in case of accidents. Put solid poop accidents into the pan so they can smell it. Kittens are capable of litter training very easily - usually the first couple weeks of weaning. Later on you can switch to regular-sized litter boxes and clumping litter. Good luck, and let us know if you have more questions! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Excellent advice above and you seem quite prepared. Quick question - do you supervise mama when she goes outside? I ask because she will likely go into heat again before the spay appointment.
