You could always use egg and cheese substitutes if you wanted to make it vegan. Flax seed and water make a good egg substitute for binding.
Thanks.  I'm vegetarian, so I will eat eggs & dairy, but I'm also very open to making things vegan, so I must Google some vegan burger recipes.

Wendy's had a black bean veggie burger for a short time but I don't think they have it anymore.

They only have it available in certain markets to test it out

I will only eat veggie burgers, medium. I don't eat them much at home but when I do I find that Morning Star products can't be beat. I like them with pickles, lettuce and mayo.

Burger king sells veggie burgers and they are pretty good. I wish our Wendy's sold the black bean burgers.
it's about time Wendys started testing a veggie burger.  I checked out the link and under comments it says:

Q: When will the Black Bean Burger be available in my area?

A: We are in the very early stages of testing at this time. We do not have a timeline on when the Black Bean Burger will be available outside our current test markets, but we are closely tracking consumer inquiries.

Therefore, since they are "closely tracking consumer inquiries", those of us who are interested should email/contact Wendys to let them know we want to try the black bean burger in our area.

I very rarely go to Wendy's or any fast food place for that matter.  I just remember seeing it on one of the restaurant signs, I am in one of the test markets.  I just looked on their website when the BK veggie burger came up in this thread and didn't see it so I assumed it was only out for a short time.  I may make one of my  rare fast food stops to try it.

I have never tried vegan but I am an off and on vegetarian.  When I am eating meat I try to keep it down to only 3 or 4 meals a week.

@Denice   Yes, since you are in the test market, if you get a fast food craving you should check out Wendys veggie burger.  And if you do, be sure to let us know what you thought of it.

I just sent a message to Wendys via their contact us link asking if they would be adding the veggie burger to their menu at their restaurants in Canada.  The auto response said I'd have a reply in 2 business days.   Will be interesting to see a) if I get a reply and b) if I do, what they say.

I got a reply back from Wendys already. They advise that the veggie burger has been successful in the test areas and they are hoping to roll it out nationwide later this year.  I'm just not sure if "nationwide" means USA only, or hopefully Canada too.  Guess we'll know later in the year.

I'm not big on burgers. If I have one I have it medium and I can't always finish the roll.

Well done. I like them on a gluten free bun, lettuce, Kraft Mayo, sweet onion, sweet pickle, and a slice of tomato. A hamburger any other way is simply not acceptable. :lol3:

There is only one way to eat a burger, or any ground beef, and that is well done. Anything less puts you at risk for ecoli sickness, and that can lead to kidney failure and even death.

Crossing the street puts you at risk of getting hit by a car and that can lead lead to injuries or death too. I no longer eat meat but when I did, if I was in a restaurant and they would not cook a burger or steak less than well done, I ordered something else. To me (and many, many others), overcooked AKA well done beef has the consistency of shoe leather. All the flavor and juices have been cooked out. I'd rather eat nothing. I ate rare and medium rare beef for decades and managed to not get sick and I'm clearly still alive. Those of us who prefer beef that way ( I also preferred lamb chops medium rare) are willing to take the risk to have our food the way we like it just as we are willing to take the risk that we will not get hit by a car every time we cross the street. There are risks involved in just about everything we do in life.

...with the cats...
i like burgers! i rarely cook a burger here at home though. on the rare occasion that i eat out, and that i order a burger, i'll order it medium-well. i like mine with just a touch of pinkness in the middle part of it. i'm fine with cheese, or without it. no raw onion, because while i like the taste of them while eating the burger, i'd rather not have the raw onion taste stay with me for hours later. a little ketchup, a little mustard, occasionally a little pickle relish (but only with mustard, never with ketchup), sweet or dill pickle slices are fine, lettuce and tomato are fine but not necessary, crisp bacon is a definite plus, no mayo.

never met a store-bought veggie burger that i liked, but i do make bean burgers at home sometimes. i usually use kidney beans in making them. and i serve mine with a chipotle-mayo i make by adding one canned chipotle pepper (with a little of the adobo sauce it comes in) which i puree in my food processor to some mayo.

I eat steak between rare and medium rare. I like it just at the point it turns pink.

Eating rare steak is different than eating rare ground beef.  With steak, the bacteria is on the outside and cooking kills it.

With ground beef  the bacteria on the outside of the meat has been ground up and mixed throughout.  If you don't cook the beef to a certain temperature all the way through, the bacteria that has been mixed in, is not killed and can cause you to become sick.  Cooking ground beef to anything less than rare leaves a deadly bacteria alive in the middle of that burger.  Many people take the chance and eat it rare or medium rare. Some people are ok. Others get what they think is "mild food poisoning" and others end up in the hospital on dialysis or even dying from ecoli infection.
