According to a recent poll, 36% of Americans like their burgers well-done, 29% prefer medium, 19% like medium-rare, and only 4% like their burgers rare. 11% said they don't eat burgers at all. The average American eats about 30 burgers a year.  (60 MInutes/Vanity Fair poll done in 2012)

I like my burgers the same way I like my steak. Throw the meat on the grill to sear, turn it over to sear, and take it off. As a close GF of mine likes to say, "Make it mooooo!" If I stick my fork into the meat and the blood doesn't come out, it's way, way too done for me. A cool, red interior is perfect.

What about you? How do you like your burgers? Do you eat burgers?

Depends on what kind of burger-homemade ground beef vs premade patty.

Homemade=med/well-I dont like the taste of ground beef raw.

Steak=med pink warm-its got to have blood running out of it or its too tough.

We will be eating more burgers now that its warm enough to stand outside and cook on the grill. We buy premade pattys with onions in them-I cook them until med because they always end up finish cooking on the plate even after I pull them off. The honey wants raw steak but not burgers-thinks that we could get bacteria from meat mixtures so he asked me to cook well done..yum. nothing like a burger with the trimmings..especially pickles and mustard.

I love burgers way too much.  It's the only red meat we eat - we're not big on steaks.

I like them medium rare. NOM NOM NOM

I will eat burgers medium well but prefer them well done.

I like steak medium.

I don't care for the taste of ground meat unless it is well done.  I also don't trust the safety of ground meat that isn't completely cooked.

I like my burgers medium.... I would prefer med rare, but for safety's sake, I settle on medium.

I find that if it is cooked longer than medium, it is too dried out for me. I enjoy a moist burger.

Of, course, I just have to have cheese on it. I cannot eat a burger without cheese!!  and ketchup... sometimes I put ketchup on one side and mayo on the other!! If I have lettuce, I will put that on also.

My burgers are really messy to eat!

No more burgers for me except veggie ones but I used to like them rare to medium rare. When I made them at home, they were usually plain with just a light sprinkle of kosher salt. Sometimes no bread. Sometimes some onion and tomato slices. When I had one out, I liked lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, jalapenos (preferably fresh), mayo and a little ketchup. No cheese.

I've tried a few veggie burgers and so far the ones I like best are the Morningstar Farms spicy black bean ones but I really don't eat them often.

I like my burgers medium, but will eat if rare or well.
My steak has to be rare and mooing or I won't eat it.

Medium well for me!  I usually ask for well done.  I want it cooked but not burnt or crispy.  (Yuck!!)  My DH is a mild-germophobe thanks to his father and grandmother.  He's forever examining his meat for doneness.  Sometimes I fuss at him for it because I usually check meat with a meat thermometer to be sure it's done.  I know what I'm doing.
I think he would almost prefer meat over-cooked.

I haven't had a meat burger in over 7 years.  When I still ate meat, my burgers had to be very, very well done, with absolutely no trace of pinkness.

With veggie burgers, it's hard to find a good one.  Sometimes restaurant ones are good.  Burger King, in fact, has a good veggie burger.

I've tried a lot of homemade veggie burger recipes, and find the biggest problem is keeping them from falling apart.  I finally found a Black Bean veggie burger recipe that tasted good and didn't fall apart, but it had egg and cheese in it, so though it's vegetarian, it's not vegan.

Burger King uses Morningstar Farms veggie burgers but they are no longer the vegan ones unfortunately.

Yes, it is hard to find a good one. I saw so many great reviews for the Beyond Meat Beast Burger so I tried one. I think that these might taste like meat only to someone who hasn't had meat in years. I took one bite and tossed the rest. I still have one in my freezer. Maybe DD will want it. I'm moving away from the meat substitutes. They are expensive and most are disappointing

You could always use egg and cheese substitutes if you wanted to make it vegan. Flax seed and water make a good egg substitute for binding.

Wendy's had a black bean veggie burger for a short time but I don't think they have it anymore.

I will only eat veggie burgers, medium. I don't eat them much at home but when I do I find that Morning Star products can't be beat. I like them with pickles, lettuce and mayo.

Burger king sells veggie burgers and they are pretty good. I wish our Wendy's sold the black bean burgers.
