Hi,

Back again.  While the barfing of Orijen now gone, by giving smaller portions, there's another problem

Timmy hasn't been himself for awhile, very  low energy which is atypical for him.  Seems to coincide with starting them on Orijen.  He used to race around like crazy, not now.  His sister Cookie's full of energy (Orijen seems to have rev'd her up).

He doesn't demonstrate discomfort in moving, jumping, no excessive drinking of water, etc.  He's a bit on the heavier side but was always prone to that.  Best thing is to get him to the Vet as soon as I can.  See if hypothyroid involved, etc.  Must wait til next week.  Stuck home with a flare of CFIDS.  No one I know can take him for me.

I may reintroduce Purina Complete for a bit, see if any change occurs.  I'm sure there may be cases of a good food having the reverse effect on some animals.

Has anyone ever encountered a reverse effect of a food that should be energizing a cat???

Thanks very much

OH BOY ... couldn't re-edit this.

But GOOD NEWS.  A new rod and thingee toy has sparked Timmy's interest and energy.  Had it here and forgot about it.  It really got him moving.

Still taking him to vet for checkup/blood tests.  I guess he's a "not gonna move unless I have to" type kitty.  Dunno.
But I'll make sure he is MOVING.

Thanks for being here y'all.

No matter how good a food may be, it can't possibly be the right food for every single cat in the world. So if it doesn't agree with him, that's what matters. So, yeah, if he doesn't pep up soon, try a different food and see if that helps.

It could be a lot of things. Orijen is good food, but it's high in calories so you have to be careful that you don't over-feed it because cats an easily eat too much and put on weight quickly. I agree he should see a vet to rule out other medical issues.

Hi Willowy,  Thanks for your reply.  Agree.  Going to try (ugh) Purina Complete for a week just to see if any connection in his low energy with Orijen.  He and his sister ate that before when I thought he had more energy - possibly no connection.  Wouldn't keep him on it anyway, just to see if it might be Orijen.

Definitely going to head to vet as soon as possible.

Also took away a very small (for him) letter box that he liked to squeeze himself into and would sleep for hours there. Figure it's not great as it could impair oxygen intake.

Onward.

Thanks missmimz ...
We'll see what it could be.  He's asleep as I speak up in my loft bed.  He sleeps a lot more than his sister Cookie.  I don't feed them more than 1/4 Cup/day.  Vet yes.
