My 7 year old male tabby cat is an out and indoor cat. he spends a lot of his time out doors exploring or finding palces to chill out in (like the garage). during winter he spends a lot more time inside on his favourite couches. however, as a whole he is quite unfriendly and his life heavily revolves around getting fed. even when there's food in his bowl he will pur and rub his head against the bowl and he will attack you if you walk past his bowl and wants to be fed. he also finds it hard to relax and always seems to be very on edge. when petting him he purs very loudly but always ends up shoving you off with his head. hes very strange and not sure what i can do to just chill the bloke out.

Some of that behaviour is affectionate. My cat will bat me with his paw when I walk past if he wants attention or feeding and he gives affectionate little head butts.

When your cat is inside more over winter, do you play with him much? He might be looking for attention because he is bored and has energy.

Is your cat fixed...sometimes thats all it boils down to...also have you taken him to vet...I ask because cats are really good at hiding pain...that is until you touch them in a spot thats aggravating them...it can be simple boredom or it may be more...google cat behaviors and see what you can glean from that...was your cat a feral cat before? I don't want to say this but it is important to know thst sometimes cats do need to be put on anxiety medication...but only try that route if all else isn't working...do you have other animals?
