Ok so a while ago we had noticed that our cat was losing weight(hes a large cat not fat just big like a maine coon)and eating less, so we took him to the vet. At the vet he got his bloodwork done and the vet didn't find the weight loss to concerning. Couple days later the test came back clean and they couldn't find anything. He's not throwing up and there's nothing unusual about his pee/poo. Now it has been a few months since the vet.He has seem to have gotten thinner and still eating less(we've tried a bunch of different foods/different ways of feeding him. He does eat,but way less than he use to). As well as slower, less talkative, and he sits in one position all the time: on his stomach head up paws underneath. Also, we notice his eyes produce a lot more goo(sorry don't know the right term).

We can't afford to take him to the vet again and we are aware of things like kidney disease. Does anyone have any advice or have dealt with a similar experience?

Thank you.

This is about the age they slow down and become a lot less active and even lose weight just like an aging human. I have 2 pretty tubby cats slim down to normal size around this age. I would just take your cat for senior check ups yearly and if he's is still eating and drinking water not worry if the vet check ups and blood tests are coming out good. Reality is he is getting older so he's going to slow down and eat less.

That is what we also thought as well, but it seemed to happen so fast!

Did they test for hyperthyroidism when they took blood?   That is a separate test from the CBC Blood panel with my Vet.
