Yesterday my Oliver had a runny eye with some eye boogers in his eye. I wiped them away with a tissue, but by night they were back. Today they are still there (they take a good third of the day to regrow the boogers), but his eye looks a little red. I'm guessing he has a hair in it and it's just irritated, but I'm not sure. Any advice?

I think I'd be leery of using  apple cider vinegar, even diluted like that, as an eye wash.  Now I've heard, many times, of using diluted ACV on the back's of their necks to cure conjunctivitis, but never heard of using it as an eye wash.  I couldn't even find it when googling, not that that really means anything.

BUT, I would normally just wash with a cool cloth and see what happens,  If it doesn't improve, then I would take him in to be seen.  If it's a foreign object and his tears or that goop that his eyes are producing aren't ejecting it, then you may need a Vet to get it out.

My Chessy gets goopy eyes sometimes and I just use a wet paper towel. Sometimes holding it lightly over their eye for a minute before wiping can help.

For our rescue babies we use johnsons baby wash! A very little bit on a wet paper towel, soaped up and used to dab it away, then followed by a clean damp towel. It cleans the area and washes away the crud.
Poor baby might have allergies, I know one of my dogs always has trouble with her eyes in the spring!
