I dont know pipers due date but iv been taking her rectal temperature and its been around 37.7c for a week or so. Today it was 36.8 in the morning and 37.5 this afternoon. She has had some discharge about two hours ago but is still eating and hasnt shown any signs of nesting like atall. Is she possibly Iin early stages of labour or could there still be a while left? Shes laying on her side a fair bit today and is meowing now and again. Any help is much appreciated! Thankyou. Corey and piper :)

I wouldn't take her temp anymore, or take it under her armpit/foreleg.

Have you seen her mucus plug or any water leaking?  Other signs of impending birth are emptying her bowel in the litter box, loss of appetite, being affectionate, wanting her belly rubbed and going into her nest.

When labor begins she will breathe harder.  She may purr to soothe herself thru the pain  You will see her stomach tighten up or ripple.

Keep using this thread for any questions.

Her not nesting is a little concerning to me, have you tried putting her in a closet or somewhere quiet dark and warm?

She has a nesting box partially covered so half dark half light. She is still discharging and meowimg when she does produce more discharge. Shes on my bed laying on her side seems a bit restless keeps licking her belly and her lady bits. Meowing and seems to be straining ever so slightly not frequently just the odd time now and then. Does it sound like labour? And also she may not nest because iv only owned her a fortnight. My boyfriend bought her me and unbelievably didnt realise she was pregnant I made her a nest shes closed off in our bedroom but never uses it even though she has to climb through it to get to her food and water she never stays in it long

If she's uncomfortable and straining for a half hour+ then contact your vet immediately! The kitten is more than likely stuck, and your vet can talk you through everything over the phone. Most cats give birth just fine, but complications aren't uncommon. Good luck and please keep posting and updating us.

Did you help her clean them? It's fine for you to help out if she's comfortable with you!

Definitely still one in her tummy. Id say she had one kitten every 30-40mins shes asleep now. When should I expect the other kitten and how long shall I leave it in her tummy before worrying and calling the vet?

Yes with a towel as they werent breathing well and one got all tangled up in the umbilical cord so had to help that one out although she did bite me a few times for trying to help! Lol she also kept breakong the sacs as soon as a little bit had shown. So she was bursting the sacs before they were coming out which worried me

You don't need to be concerned unless she seems to be in distress or if she is pushing and nothing is happening for over 30 minutes.  Kittens can even be born on different days.

Please do keep her inside and away from any intact males until she can be spayed when the kittens are 8-weeks-old.  And please post photos when you can!
