I just recently adopted an 11 week old kitten and have a few questions.

First of all, I'm curious as to how much vet visits are going to cost? I just mean the regular check up / booster shot ones, can anybody give me a rough estimate?

Secondly, she was spayed the day before i got her. That was on Wednesday. It is now Friday, and her tummy where the stiches are is all swollen around them, is that normal? It was swollen before some, but for some reason it looks extra swollen to me today. Also, the bottom one looks like it might be starting to come out, do I need to worry about this?

And finally, I am worried about her getting at electrical cords. I have them all over the place, and they say get them out of the way, but there is no way of doing that without unplugging everything! And that won't work, anybody have a suggestion for this very troubling problem??

Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a new pet owner! Thank you!

Welcome to the site Kate! Congrats on the new addition to your family.

I'm going to move this to Health & Nutrition since that's mainly what your questions are about.

First of all: Welcome to TCS!
Congrats to the new kitten. I'm not sure how much the vet will cost cause it depends on your vet, I'd say it's around the general area of what the other members posted as the price.

I would definately take her back to the vet. Atleast call them about it. If she has stitches that are coming out you definately need to take her in unless they are the kind that rot away over time instead of the kind that need to be removed by a vet. Scratch that...you just really need to take her. A Spay is a surgery....it's always a good idea to check a pet out when anything seems wrong.

One thing you can do is keep everything unplugged that you dont have to have plugged in. You then can wrap the rest. There are many ways. Plastic tubing for cords can be purchased at walmart and places like radio shack. Also can use lots of ducktape as a last resort. Just remember even though they are wrapped it's possible for them to chew thru the wrapping and get a painfull...or deadly shock. Check the wires (covered or not) regularly. I keep everything unplugged except things I am using. Those things are wrapped.

It's ok for the questions...its a good thing to have questions. Feel free to ask!
