I tried to teach myself a few times.  My Aunt is constantly making something.  Usually baby blankets; but also large ones.  Her hands give her trouble now; but she hasn't stopped. I think she finds it soothing and that attracted me to it.  (Also a love of cozy blankets.
)  I found it hard on my hands and a bit on the eyes.  i think I was holding the yarn too tight and straining.  I certainly never got the fluid motions my Aunt has!  She has made both baby and twin-size blankets for both my kid's beds.  Those are always their favorite blankets too.  I used to have a blanket my Grandmother had made years ago and that was my favorite too.  My mother still has it.  I have a larger size blanket from my Aunt also; but we put it away when we upgraded to a king size bed.

I have a couple hand-made cat toys too.  Noodles likes those.

I have done it a lot in the past. I haven't made anything in recent months. The first thing I ever did was a cape. That was back in the 70's. A family member was going to teach me. She worked and I didn't and I could never seem to slow her down. So I bought the pattern and the wool and taught myself. After that I made many afghans for myself and gifts to others. I have crotched the American Flag two or three times. One of them was donated to the church for a fall bazaar. :lol3:

It's been a long time since I have done any. I can do both knitting and crochet. I have a huge forest green blanket I started. I already got three skeins of yarn into it and only has about two feet done out of the 8 ft long I wanted to make it.

I've never completed any projects. My worst thing is starting abunch and not finish. I haven't knitted for almost twenty years. I used to admire those sweaters I call maine fishing boat kind with a nice v neck and pearled type patterns. In the 90s those long sweaters and those legging type pants were popular and I always wanted to make knw of those sweaters but I found I'm too hot blooded for sweaters.

I've been fascinated by the different things you can make via crochet but never got back into it.

Until this year I only knew how to make granny squares and plain scarves. I didn't even know how to read a pattern.  I'm working on weight loss and find that I'm a boredom eater, and when I am sitting watching TV I tend to want to eat. So I took up crocheting.  Thanks to a Facebook group called The Crochet Crowd and their YouTube videos, I've learned to read a patter and have been making hats.

I'm having to travel out of province for some medical appointments and our government only pays for the base flight, no airport or other travel related costs of any kind, and I can't afford to pay $500 out of my own pocket each time, so I've decided to sell the hats I make, since I don't wear hats.

Here are some samples of ones I've made.

Those posted works of yours are incredible, really professional looking :)

I can make only loops, then those loops inside loops to other way, so I end up with cat collar or bracelet, but I have not learned yet how to make surfaces so that would end up having a mouse or even a granny square.

For my attention span it is bit slow, but would like to learn make mittens or socks at some point.

Locally I could not find crochet hooks of my liking, they were so tiny but got these https://www.aliexpress.com/item/12-...h-Weave-Craft-Needle-12-Size/32459480808.html

I like how light they are and not slipping from my fingers, also I find it easier to pull loops with those compared to metal Prym branded ones that are only ones sold locally here, not sure if you more experienced ones have tried such and if you have found there being problems with wooden hooks that I am not aware of yet?
