interrupted labor

My cat gave birth to 1 kitten last wednesday, 4 days ago. The kitten and the mama cat are fine. She eats, drinks, lets us pet her, usually laying with her baby. There's no bleeding or contraction. However it's so obvious that there are more kittens inside her as her belly is very full. Could this be just an interrupted labor or should I be worried? I will take her to vet tomorrow if she still doesn't give birth.

Kittens are born when they are ready.  Cats can get pregnant on different days, even a week apart, so the kittens can be born on different days.  If she isn't in distress you don't need to worry.

Handsome Kitty is right. If there is no distresss there's no need to worry. She'll have more when the kittens and her body are ready. It's not unusual for kittens to be born days apart. You want to avoid an unnecessary C-section if possible.

Yes, this isn't uncommon. Have you seen or felt more kittens moving? If there are additional kittens, she'll birth them when her body is ready, just keep her and the one baby comfortable. Please post a picture if you can!

That is really too young for a kitten to be away from its mom unless you are supplementing its feeding and stimulating it to pee and poop, i.e. treating it like an orphan..  It is not good for the kitten or the mother, since she will be healthier if the kitten continues to nurse and stimulates her to keep producing milk.  Why should she need to stay away from her mom for 12 hours?

So sweet!

Do you plan to have mama spayed when the baby is 8 weeks old?

No, she will need supplemental care. Please get some kmr for the kitten and start feeding it every two hours. She also needs help going potty and also needs a heating source. If you cannot get kmr tonight, can you get goat milk? Or make kitten glop?

Please keep the mother cat inside until she can be spayed when the kitten is 8 weeks old. The mama can already get pregnant again. Also, she could potentially bring back pests like fleas or illness, which are deadly to a newborn. There is also the risk that she will not return and you will have to raise this baby like an orphan.

Please don't let her out again until the baby is weaned and she is spayed. It is so risky.

That's great. Multiple pregnancies and heat cycles are very draining and risky.

Be sure to keep her completely inside and away from intact males until she can be spayed. She can get pregnant again even now, and even without going into heat.

She refuses to use litter box and has been an outdoor cat for 1.5 years since she was born. I got her in because she gave birth.

The baby is very cute! Sorry about the stillborn, but I am very glad your cat did not need an emergency c-section. [emoji]128571[/emoji]

Have you tried adding dirt to a litter box so it's more familiar to her? Cat attract cat litter can also help.

It is too dangerous for the kitten and your cat for her to be in and out.

Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract litter has worked wonders for cats who are used to going outdoors.  It has special herbal attractants in it that draw cats to it.  It also comes with a money back guarantee, if your cat will not use it, you get your money back.  It comes with a booklet of hints on how to make your cat want to use  the litter box.  You can get it at Petsmart, Petco and Pet Supermarket.  If there are none near you, you can also get it on Amazon.

It costs about $15 for one bag, but that one bag will probably last a long time.  You should not let the kittens use it when they are first learning because it is a clumping litter.  I use sandbox sand for training baby kittens.  Once they stop eating the litter, you can switch over.

If you keep her and the kittens in one room and put the litter box as far away from where the kittens are as you can, she is most likely to use it.  My friend had tried everything for her outside cat ad the cat would pee in the box but poop beside it.  When I was cat sitting for her, I bought some Dr. Elsey's Cat Attract and the cat started using it..   My friend was amazed.

I got my cat spayed 2 days ago and she vomited and had diarrhea and fever today so I took her to vet. She's taking antibiotics now.Can it spread to her 5 weeks old kitten even though she's nomore nursing from her mom. Kitten feels a little too warm to me so I'm worried though she's playing and eating normally.
