Hi @foxxycat

Thank you for your advice, I'll talk to our vet and think about it.

Do you or does your vet know It usually takes how long to see a dentritic thing gone? they are still there this morning.

Everyday I opened my eyes, I expect to see his eyes getting better, but the dentritic things are still there.

The only good news for now it's the white deposits are gone several days ago, but after that I don't know if he's getting better or not.

I'll try to learn something about hâles today, and try to figure out what's going on with his upper respiration. I think there's a way to tell according to the sound he makes.

The different sound means the different part is infected. maybe nasal passage, maybe windpipe.

I think the vet who reply me several times via mail won't reply me again. I asked about the maintenance does of famciclovir, he didn't answer it.

I understand the reason may be he can't see my cat. So I have to figure it out within 6 days.

Could you please ask your vet, if it's possible, how should I take as medication for a 7.5kg 14 years old cat, if he has infection of windepipe for a long time.

Does Doxycycline works for C felis+ mycoplasma+ bordetella? It seems to be the best choice for me, according to my research, and considering that we can't do swab test to know.

If it's normal bacteria infection what should he take as medication and how, for example amoxicillin? but it seems to be resisted by many bacterium now.

Thank you very much.

And for the small apartment, I wish I could give him a larger place to run, a quiet space to sleep during day or night, and a large window where he can bath in sunshine under it. It sounds quite simple and normal

to many people. But I just can't give it to him. Our neighbours make so much noises day and night, he can't see much nature through the windows, all he can see it's another building and a few people walking by.

I tried to leave some food for birds, so my brother may have chance to see something interesting. I'm not rich at all, but I'd like to spend every penny on him, He's the best cat and I want to give him the best thing in

the world, he deserves to be happy. There are evil people, but I don't think there are evil cats. The day I brought him home, it wasn't me who chose him, it was him who grabbed me. Maybe it's written. He trusts me and I feel horrible when I can't protect him.

@Ginny

Oh God! Crossing The Bridge? does it means...?

I'm so sorry to hear that. I really want to give you a hug.

My sister's waiting for me too at the other side of the bridge, She just gone due to misdiagnosis, We thought it was her heart and it turns out to be the same cause as my brother's.

I could have saved her, if we knew the cause! I can't stop blaming myself. If I didn't trust our vets that much, I may have a chance to save her.

It breaks my heart. I understand your feeling. I saw her go, and it left a huge hole in my heart.
Thank you!  Yes I had her put to sleep (PTS).  I really hope your kitty doesn't have the same thing. One thing I would recommend is looking into a very good quality probiotic.  If your kitty has been on antibiotics especially.  But I would certainly ask a vet you can trust first and do some of your own research too.  Probiotics help the immune system.

I think you need to really look into a vet for your boy. and getting those eye drops. sometimes it takes three weeks to get rid of eye ulcers. As long as kitty is eating and drinking I would think he is ok. Do you know how to take his temperature? That would be the easiest way to determine if he has infection-although sometimes animals dont have fever with infection but if he does have a fever then you really need to take him to a vet-try to ask around your building to see if anyone has someone they trust. I dont recommend meds without being able to see the cat and then each bacteria is treated by different meds-so not sure how to determine this. I think trying the steam bath would help your kitty. get that shower running good and hot. and keep the door shut with you and kitty in there...breathe the steam for 15 minutes. It will help break up any mucus in his nose/throat and elsewhere.

Hi @foxxycat

Thanks for your reply

We already tried the best vets in our city, and I'm still trying to find someone else, even the chance may not be high.

For the temperature, I've tried 2 methods, it stopped at 37.6c, but I used the same method on my sister before, and it worked well,

so I bought a thermometer (the kind to use again the forehead),and a stethophone, I can get them both today.

What is your way to get the right temperature?

For the drops, what our vet mentioned is lidocaine, for the surface of eyeball, and atropine is for uveitis. I misremembered the name before.

I'd like to try the steam bath, even he doesn't have thick discharge from nose. I'd like to try that! My neighbours smoke a lot, I can't make them stop, and the smoke comes into our home from bathroom and kitchen...

I bought a air cleaner for the smoke and the fog of pollution, it works but, not very well, I consider to buy a second one, to make them work together when the smoke gets in.

I'll kill myself without thinking, if it can bring the health back to my brother.

The problem about bacteria is frustrating, since we can't do any test to figure out. And it seems all antibiotics are the same in the eye of our vets...

Some of them suggested to change meds after 5 days, I don't think it's right for the chronic situation. And if they keep switching like that, they will make it worse.

So I'm doing my search too, and try to figure out the right medications.

Since the 4 medications we used worked well to make the white line gone from the deepest ulcer, I really doubt that the C felis or mycoplasma, one or both of them are there.

I'm calling a vet who never answered his phone while writing here, someone told me that he has seen many cases. I hope he can just pick up his phone or send me a message.

How is your kitty by the way? getting better? I wish good luck for both our cats.

Ahh smoking. Grrrrrr!!! That's how my cat got asthma. Yes air purifiers and make sure that the ones you get are NOT ionic. Just plain air filters with a Hepa filter. The one I use is whisper by whirlpool. Its $300 here but really helps with the air quality.

My mom used to smoke and yep it gets into my bedroom. Maybe you can ask them to smoke outside? Tell them that you have illness and need clean air to breathe.

Our current one is philips, is 6000+RMB, I forgot the exactely price. It may be just half price or less in your country. We have air pollution here, so the price is like in stock market...

I tried to ask them to smoke outside, without success...

We are thinking about refix our kitchen and bathroom once again, I hope it will work, I'm not sure if we can plug every crack, there's something maybe called "flue" inside the building for the kitchen ventilator.

And a good new, it seems the deepest ulcer of my dear Meow became less deep, I think the deepest one with veins is healing. Although, the dendritic things are still in the middle of his eyes.

And I began to study chinese herbes on my own, I think there are some nontoxic plants for cats, which will help their immune system, but it needs a lot of works, I have to be careful.

Like Astragalus, but it's not wise to give it in spring, it's the wrong season.

Well you can always get plain ol saline solution like people use for contacts and put them in his eyes three times a day. It won't kill bacteria but it will add moisture to his cornea that may actually feel good. Cigarette smoke irritates the eyes. Anytime you can help keep things moist will make him more comfortable or buy human eye drops that's used to treat eye ulcers will be the best thing otherwise the infection could jeopardise his eye. Tobramycin or something like this-I can't remember what it is spelled as I'm in bed but you need to put this in his eye for two weeks otherwise he is probably going to be uncomfortable. You can also buy another air cleaner and put one in each room. Not much you can do about other people's actions.

hi foxxycat
Good idea for the artifical tear! I'm thinking to take him to see a vet nearby, for a dye test this week.it seems the deepest ulcer is shallow, but I can't be sure. Especially the dendritic things are still there, which makes me still suspect.and the punctuate lesions are still there too.he squints under the sunlight.its been almost 2weeks,since he's on high dose of oral famciclovir.i read on internet yesterday, sometimes we take pseudodendritic keratitis as dendritic keratitis, and it's different.the visit to our vet will definitely cause his stress.he hates our vets, and it may make things even worse.whats more, I don't think our vets can tell the difference between dendritic keratitis and pseudodendritic keratitis,(believe me, you don't know how bad they are)since the famous one even don't know how to make the rear test right. and no culture test to be sure. what shall I do? I have no one to discuss with, my mom ignore it. Is that wise to go visit the bad vet again? He has no opinions the last time I contact him.all I can expect may just be I can see the ulcers or keratitis myself once again under their lamp, with no more advices from them. And come back with a stressful meow.TT

@foxxycat

Hi there. we are back from the clinique but totally lost ...

I finally go visit our vet one more time.

The vet I planned to visit gave up on us before I can make a decision.

And I went to see another for the dye test. Just came back home.

What shall I do? they say the ulcers are healed. I really want to believe our vet. What a good news!

But the way they did the test is different this time! what the ...

The ulcers remain sunken, cloudy. and the dendritic things keep growing.

They put the drop in his eyes then wash it before seeing it under their lamp? is that the right way?

The last time, they put the drop in his eyes, then watch it, and wash it after that!

May I ask how does your vet do the dye test?

All I remember is some orange color drops to look at ulcer-it turns green on the eye under that ultraviolet light or green light-and can you post a photo of your cats eyes in the sunlight or natural light? show me what you mean..you can take a photo with cellphone and upload on the google chrome platform or maying internet explorer or email yourself that picture-open email on computer=click on image to come up on computer-then right click save as and name the file then come here and use the button that looks like a picture with a sun and mountains on this window where you select different things--its in the same box as that smiley face-and omega symbol-I am not a vet but maybe others can chime in if we can see exactly how bad the eye is?

My vet didnt wash the eye at all-do you have another place you can go? just play stupid and dont tell them you have already taken him to get looked at. I don't know what you have in regards of transportation but in my state I can drive to about 10 diff vets in a 1 hour radius=theres plenty to choose from but whether they are good or not is hard to say...sorry that this is not turning out the way you wanted...

this one is the best I can get, it's his left eye.

you can see something white cloudy in the middle of his cornea.

And for the right eye, I can take a picture, it's hard to see.

But the pattern is like a big X now.

the clinique I went today is the most famous of our country. and some others can't even do that test. and one gave up on us, so I can't go. And I can still find a few others, all small clinque, not clean, it's the situation in our country. And I can't drive because of my own health problem. I take cabs.

I can't image if my brother's eyes went worse someday. I always think when the day comes, I will have a heart attack and go with him.

actually it looks really good-I wonder if it is just the way the light is hitting the eye-his eye looks really clear and bright.

I also saw the vet pull down the eye at the bottom edge like you would pull down to insert a contact in your eye=he was looking for redness down there. She still had it and the outer edge where it touches the eyeball was not as puffy as it was before-

your cat's eye doesnt look puffy on the bottom or red. It looks very healthy. and nice and moist-doesnt look dry or sunken in.

Maybe others can chime in?? I think you are doing a great job with your kitty! saline eye drops wont hurt him and keeps eye moist if there is cigerette smoke. I don't have anything to add....keep loving on him-and breathe!

it's always that clear. It's cloudy not white like the wall. The deepest one is under his eyelid, while the other 2 two. And another dendritic one in the middle of his right eye. The cloudy things are clear under their lamp. I don't think I can add a photo with my phone. I'll try to add the photo of the deepest ulcer. And some veins on his eyes are still red, which means the infection is still there. The first time they watch the ulcers first then wash it, and nothing remains. And this time they wash first. Can we do that? It's not like what I found on Internet. And I don't understand how a scar keep growing. It's became bigger and bigger. And he quints, and try to avoid the sun light. What shall I do? I told them all these. And they keep saying what they want. I really hope someone knows something about it can leave their opinions too. And thank you very very much foxxycat for all your support these days! Which makes me keep going. It's really hard and heartbroken when you have to face it alone.no one else care about him. I mean the people around us, my family members and the vets. How can they success to do that? Doesn't it hurt to see a cat suffering? It hurts me anyway.

I am hoping others who have EYE experience CHIME IN??!! PLEASE!!!!

I don't understand people either. Family members say they love animals but the living conditions say otherwise. And they think nothing of it. I don't like my animals to be starving or alone outside in the cold. I know some people think its ok to chain them outside in the winter. I beg to differ but its their home and they have to live with the results. I don't like people who starve their animals or say they cant afford food but buy stupid
all the time. So yes my heart aches as well and we can't change people hun.

I envy those who live in a better place and can help their cats diagnose with some technique or test that we don't have. but don't understand why they refuse it because of money issue? They are richer than me. I'm just a normal guy. I save money for imergency. And I'd like to spend them on my cat. It's a life too. And he's my family member. I spend nearly all the money on my cat( yeah, I'm not rich. So it's nearly all my money) I need to buy everything for him overseas. our food for cats are not good, maybe you can hear news of our food issue. If only I can make our country a better world for cats. God made them lovely, so that they should be loved. And they don't live as long as human do, they should enjoy their life and not suffer.
