My cat has tapeworms. I have a bad general phobia of parasitic creatures (yes, I know contracting them myself is rare, and that's not my phobia.) I fed her her pill at ~830 PM last night. She just puked (on my bed, of course) at 520 AM. Does anyone honestly know if this was enough time for the worm pill to do its thing? I can't tell from the puke. I'm so stressed out.

Most likely not. But do not give any more medicine until the next scheduled dosing time. You don't want to accidentally overdose the cat.

Medicine for parasites take time to work. One dose will not do much of anything. Just follow the directions on the package or the vet's advice on how much medicine to give, how often, and for how many days. it usually takes a couple doses to completely remove all the parasites, longer if it's a pretty bad infestation..

What tapeworm medicine are you using? OTC ones from the pet stores often do not work. If that's what you are using, please call the vet and see if you can get a prescription tapeworm remover.

Just one Drontol pill? One pill isn't going to work like magic to stop the entire tapeworm life cycle. Some adults may be killed fairly quickly but there will still be adults who aren't affected by one dose and unhatched eggs and young worms that may not be affected at all until they reach a later age. Can you get more pills from the vet?

I couldn't find the frequency of dosing for Dontrol, just how many tablets per pound of cat: http://www.bayerdvm.com/show.aspx/productdetail/drontal-tablets Ask your vet for exactly how many days you need to give the Drontol for the tapeworms to be completely gone.
