Should I get another one?

I am seriously thinking of getting another kitty - the problem is my dollfaced persian Psyche is NOT enamoured of other cats - although we have just moved house and there are two other very friendly cats in the complex whom she seems to be tolerating pretty well (this is a first). She is very attatched to me and not at all to other people so am a bit worried about jealousy as she has been on her own with me all her life. The local SPCA is over-run with kittens and I would love her to have a friend she can cuddle up with or play with when I'm not around. (Is this ever likely I wonder!).

Recently when I went away on holiday she really pined for me at the cattery and went off her food. I'm thinking perhaps a companion would make her less of a mommy's girl and less needy. Perhaps this is just wishful thinking and she really is better off as queen of the castle. I think she was an abused kitten as she is VERY timid around other people and cats , but can be extremely affectionate and cuddlesome with me when there is no-one else around. Is this a good idea or am I on the wrong track?

This is just my opinion but I get the impression that Psyche is happy being your one and only. However, if you decide to get another cat, be ready to spend a long time overseeing the introductions. My three cats took months to accept each other!
Good luck to whatever you decide!

You may be right - she is kind of "exclusive" with her affections - maybe she thinks I should be too!

Thanks for your opinion
