Hello everyone:

My 10 year old frosty either seems to be having severe tooth pain or he may have injured one of his claws, but I'm leading towards the pain in his tooth and this is why.

If I touch around his left side top tooth, he will start screaming, open his mouth wide and sometimes hiss.  Last night I tried to give him a treat and when he tried to take it out of my finger, if the treat touched that tooth area, it seemed to bother him.  He seems to be eating somewhat normal, but not sure if he's chewing his food all that much.  I have him on Natural Balance food.  Last night he was scratching the chair and I go to move his paw to make him stop scratching and he screamed so loud and hissed and had his mouth open a bit wide too.  I know he needs to see a vet, but is there anything I can do until I get him in the vet?

I think this is probably a vet emergency at this point. You don't want him to stop eating, and it sounds like he is in a great deal of pain.

Please let us know what the vet says.

Yeah, you definitely don't want to get to a point where he stops eating. They don't just start eating again necessarily once the pain is gone. And cats can and will starve themselves if going through a period of inappetance. So please do see the vet asap.

I agree that he needs to be seen by a vet. Tooth problems can be horribly painful, poor guy. I hope that your kitty feels better very soon!
