Is this a regular thing? My cat Thor had his leg broken 13 weeks ago. Taking him every four weeks to get x rays done. Last night Thor's cast came just below his elbow so I brought him in, in the morning. While redoing his cast the vet noticed that Thor's fur was all clumpy and messed up and his skin in which his assistant told me, "looks bad". My guess is pressure sores. Now he stayed with them for 2-3hours, vet said he wanted it to air out. Called me back when it was done. They said they clipped all the hair on his leg off. When I brought him home I noticed the splint was changed and the cast it's self was a lighter wrapped cast. Meaning it's thin, you could see the white bandage beneath. I'm guessing that due to the sores on his leg. He goes back to the vet around the 25th of this month for another x ray. The vet said he was getting there (healing really nicely) the last time we went around the 24th of last month. So I'm hoping that this time around we are all better. Today will mark 13 weeks since he's had the break. I wasn't informed on what to do about the sores, and I even asked the assistant and she said "just keep on going." My concern is I do not want these sores to become infected and horrible. And I'm worried of that. Is this normal? Been seeing this vet since January 1st. The vet doesn't want to remove the cast, because he's afraid of a rebreak. But I don't want those sores becoming awful and Thor loses his leg. Whats the point in doing all this in the first place if he was going to lose his leg in the end? Any advice would surely help out a lot!!

I don't really have an answer for you as to whether or not this is normal, but I would certainly call them back and "demand" an answer as to whether or not you should try to keep the area clean or tend to it in some way.  Voice your concerns about infection, etc and get answers until you are satisfied.  "just keep on going" is not really sufficient, IMHO, when you are talking about your guy's future
Did they give you any antibiotics to give him, or did they give him a Convenia shot, by chance.  That's a 2 week antibiotic shot, but they should have gotten your permission before giving it to him.  I would think if he had any open wounds they would have him on antibiotics to try to prevent infection.
