okay, so i have three cats. all three are unaltered adults, and have thus far been unaltered because i've been spending more money on fosters and getting them healthy.

i found homes/rescues for all of my fosters and i don't plan on taking anymore in for a long time (like, years) just so i can focus more on mine and get myself in a more financially stable place.

today i sent in a money order to Humane Solutions for three $35 low cost spay/neuter vouchers which will be taken by a local vet i know.

however, i have a small dilemma.. princess is pregnant, i'm pretty sure. now i don't have any problems getting the kittens aborted, BUT...

.. i KNOW they belong to my other cat, fuzzybutt, because he's the only male she's been around for months now and she hasn't sneaked outside for months.

last year one of my fosters had one kitten by fuzzybutt and i was so thrilled, and he was so precious and looked just like his daddy and i loved him to pieces, but he didn't live very long.

basically, should i go ahead and abort the kittens, or take a chance on princess having a kitten that looks like him?

would it be selfish of me to want to let her have them just on the off chance one might look like him, when it's possible none will?

Now, as a seasoned rescuer, you have earned your right to have some private happiness too.  So your conscience as such, is more or less clear.

But the question to get more kittens or not, you must answer it yourself.

Abortion is apparently no big issue here, so its "just" to answer honestly by yourself, for yourself.  And these kittens whom will be delivered.

Btw,  how is your male looking, - do you know more of his parents?

And how is your female looking - and her parents?

I mean, if there are some more or less probable genes around.  Sometimes the outcome is pretty sure if the genes are dominant enough.

Hmm. Are you still moving to UK in a couple of months? Will you be taking these 3 adults with you? How do kittens play into this situation? Would you keep and take a look-alike with you too? Could you find homes for the others easily before you move?

It's great you're getting the vouchers to spay/neuter, and if you terminate you surely want to do that ASAP before the kittens get too far along. Is she showing? Do you know about how far along she is?

Just consider all of your options, and let us know what you decide.

Obviously you should do what you feel is right. My personal opinion is that you should enjoy the cats you have, and get the litter aborted. You still have Fuzzybutt, right? And mama?

Kittens, as you know, are incredibly expensive. With your move coming up and all the money you've put into rescues, I think it's best to follow your plan of stabilizing and go from there.

yeah, i fostered his mom and owned her mom before settling on just these three, his side is fantastic and healthy even though i don't know about the dad (i spotted him a few times and he was fat like fuzzybutt is now lol), but princess was born in a pretty iffy litter, and one of them died a few weeks in.. and oh gosh, she took forever to get healthy. that's definitely something i need to consider. :(

my plans to move have been put on hold unfortunately because we don't meet the income requirements. :( so right now i'm planning on going over there for six months (while my pets stay with my mom) and then rry to figure out if he should come here or if we should hold off until we meet the income requirements.. it's a bit of a mess. but the 3 cats i have definitely factor into the situation and will be taken with me if move. the baby look alike would be too, and i'm pretty sure the foster network would take the remaining kittens.. but knowing my luck they'll ALL come out looking like fuzzybutt and it will kill me to part with them.

it might be too expensive to have kittens now, esp if they're anything like princess was as a kitten ..

yeah, she's got a lil bump on her sides, i'm not sure how far along she is though...

okay, i'll keep you guys in the loop. :)

i do, i have them both. yeah, they are pretty expensive, esp if anything goes wrong.. you're probably right. i'll think on it some more (and take her to a vet to ask if the kittens can still be aborted) but i am leaning towards not having them now.

It's good to hear you made a decision. When will she be spayed?

her official appointment is april 1st, but the lady that runs the clinic said she'd call if there were any cancellations so she can get in her ASAP.

That's 2 more weeks. How far along is she, do you think? You want to try to catch it before the final 2-3 weeks.

Are you sure you want to spay/terminate now? It becomes upsetting once you feel movement. How big is she?

Oh no. :( that's so sad. What a tough situation and a difficult choice to make. I support your decision either way. Sending hugs to you.

Eek, if you can feel them she only has 2 weeks left. . .while you still could terminate, it's more like a c-section and euthanizing the kittens. I'm not comfortable terminating at that stage. It's also somewhat riskier for the mother cat. Do you think you can find good homes for the kittens? What a hard decision. I hope you can get it all figured out! :vibes:

If you can't afford the kittens' care, maybe a rescue will sponsor them. You could ask around anyway.

Well, it's not quite like euthinizing the kittens because they wouldn't survive outside the womb. I think it's more important to talk to the vet about what's best for your girl's health.

hey guys, i decided to let her keep the babies. i talked it over with my family and rescue friends and just don't have the heart now that she's so far along. i'm just going to buckle down and line up homes/rescues for them and get her spayed as soon as i can. thanks everyone for supporting me and helping me decide. :) <3

hey guys! she just went into labor!!! the first one that's out is black and white like my fuzzybutt, so he's most definitely the dad (+since he was the only unaltered male she's been around for a long time) and i'm struggling already not to get attached to them all lmao.

i'll post pics when they're all here and less gunky!!!

update: the lil black and white one actually has a few of the TINIEST splotches of orange ever, so she's def a calico. a second came out with princess' dark orange and white coloring!
