We took in our kitty Georgia after a neighbor couldn't care for her. Long story short, not too long after Georgia became part of our family, my husband was laid off. She recently went into heat and fell for a handsome tuxedo named Rascal. Turns out, Rascal hasn't been fixed either. She's showing signs of "pinking up" so I'm certain we have kittens on the way. After kicking myself for not finding a way to have her fixed in time (not too many resources for hardship out here), I am now doing my research. Georgia is a "queen" pregnant or not, and I want her to have as much comfort and health as she can as she experiences motherhood. I'll be doing my own research, but I welcome any tips and advice. Also, what are some things I should have handy for the birth? Like a kitty med kit/ labor bag lol. Thanks for taking the time to help! [emoji]128568[/emoji]

Welcome to TCS!

Just to mention and get it out of the way, it is possible to spay/abort if she isn't that far along.  Also would like to mention that pregnant and nursing cats eat a lot, not to mention the amount of food kittens eat.  You will need to keep them until they are 10 - 12 weeks old; it alleviates behavior problems as the cats get older.

Ok so the nipples pinken up on day 21.  The average cat pregnancy is 65 days or 9 1/2 weeks.  If you remember the day her nipples changed you can calculate an approximate due date.  You should begin feeding her kitten food, both wet and dry.  It has extra nutrients that the growing kittens need.  Let her eat as much as she wants.  Most people free feed the dry and give wet a couple of times a day.

I'm going to second the spaying now as a humane option if you are at all open to it. Taking care of kittens is expensive and time consuming, and there are so many homeless kittens out there that even if these find homes, they will take the place of others who will die in shelters unadopted. Local rescue organizations can help you find spay/neuter clinics or other low cost options. Best of luck whatever you decide, though. I hope Rascal can get neutered, too!
