This is Nudgie.  He's a 2 1/2 year old boy who started out life as a feral.  I helped his colony caretaker (my 88 year old mother in law!) TNR him 2 years ago.  Last fall he could no longer live safely with his colony because one of the other males kept chasing him away. After months of this behavior we trapped him again.  Following all of the great advice on this site I was able to socialize him pretty well.  He now has a permanent indoor home with our family.  I want to thank you all very much for sharing your hard earned insight into how to socialize & integrate feral & stray cats.  We did everything you recommend about keeping him in his own room at first, spending lots of time talking to him, using play & a petting wand to encourage contact.  He's a complete loverboy now.  He wants to be petted constantly & loves my husband's lap.  We also followed your advice about introducing him to our resident cat & that's gone very well.

I just want to say a big thank you for taking the time to share your wisdom so generously.  You guys are spot on about being patient & letting him set the schedule.  It took months of slow progress and a big commitment of time to get where we are with him.  We're thrilled to have him as part of the family.  It was absolutely worth the effort we put into it.  So congratulations everyone!  Nudgie has a home thanks to all of you on this site.

I love reading stories like this!  Thank you so much for sharing.  Nudgie is so lucky to you have!

I too rescued a feral boy in fact today was his Gotcha Day ( TNR day) 3 years ago!  He lived on my property for about 6 months, but he was the tormentor.  He would not leave my other TNR'd boys alone.  As a last ditch effort, I brought him inside. It was a rough tiem, but I am so glad I worked and worked with him.  He is now the sweetest soul.

So glad you came back to update!  Hugs to you and Nudgie!

That's a great story.

He's such a nice looking cat, I'm really glad to hear that he has the home he deserves. Lots of my cats were feral born. They can make great house cats with a little patience and understanding.

Hugs to you and Nudgie from me too.

Ahh, he looks alot like a cat I used to own years ago named Pepper when I lived with my mom. We had two cats back then Kitty and Pepper. Pepper was apart of Kitty's litter (had her fixed after that). Unfortunately, Kitty was killed by a car one day when she escaped and my mom had to give Pepper away when she moved into an apartment building. I miss both cats really, but now that I can own a cat myself, Puss has helped me quite alot get over the loss of Kitty especially this year ! I'm so happy for you too ! Your cat has certainly come a LONG way.

I'm so happy that Nudgie found a loving home but I'm thankful that we all have a place to converge and share/teach/help one another about our wonderful cats!
