I took in a pregnant mama for  a local shelter, to give a lots of love and safe place to have her babies. I've raised many littes of orphaned kittens, but this was the first time I got to witness the birth.

I'm exhausted. lol

She had 5 kittens (that's what the Vet said she was having)  and they are all, of course, adorable.

Here's my question. She didn't groom the last one so well, He was still a bit wet, so I rubbed him with a towel. I placed him in front of her a few times, but she didn't do any more grooming. I think she's exhausted, too.  Should I be concerned?   I did move them from the 1st messy box (she didn't eat on of the placentas, and I threw it out.

Is there anything I need to do, in particular?  I figured she knows what she's doing, and I should just keep an eye on all of them

I did write down the times of each baby, and their weights. The trick will be being able to tell them apart.

Thanks!

Wendy

Also, in the clean box, I put a heating pad on low underneath the towels as its cool in the room they are in.

So sweet.  Mom is exhausted.  She may not eat right away if she ate four placentas.  You can put the water and food close by and the litter box close as well.  She won't want to go too far from her babies.

Thank you!  I did move the food and water over, and the litter is nearby, as well.  I actually scoured a bunch of of the threads here and they really helped!

Oh, all those sweet babies! I think mom is exhausted, too, and will take care of the last one when she's regained some strength. There's no reason to think she's rejecting her kitten.
