My cat fell down a stairwell in mid-December and tore his ACL. This caused his IBD to flare up and he stopped eating wet food (would eat a little dry at the end of the day.) Regular vet put him on appetite stimulant for a week, but then suggested I take him to the internist after a month of no improvement. They did a ultrasound, blood work and chest X-rays --- everything unremarkable.

He got bloody diarrhea last week (he's been symptom free for a year) they put him Metronidazole. I gave him some, but held off as I was afraid all the meds were making his stomach upset and causing him to eat even less. Oh and he also goes once a week for B12 shots.

He's been confined now for 8 weeks; in a spare bedroom during the day and in a playpen at night. Sunday I let him wander around the house and I noticed he was limping again and didn't look good Sunday night. This morning I watched him produce a very watery poop that ended with bright red blood.

I am very discouraged as he doesn't seem to be improving. The last time I saw blood in his stool was January 2015 when we thought he had a bad reaction to compounded pred. He did eat a lot last night as the appetite stimulant must've kicked in.

I feel some guilt over deciding against the ACL surgery, but was afraid that his anorexia would only get worse post-op. Before Sunday he was not limping at all and the leg did not seem to be bothering him.

My impression is the vet has used all the tools at her disposal to treat him. He's only 2 and half years old. I don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry your kitty and you are having a tough time!!! I don't know much about your cat's condition but what I do know is the you have your cat's age on his side and that's a plus. Try to keep up hope and perhaps someone here can give you some suggestions.
