My cats are leaning heavily toward Merrick LID, I would like more options. I feed tiki and Soulistic but they don't love it like Merrick! Anyone come across something new?

I've been getting a new rotation setup for my cats recently. They LOVE Purina's Muse line of food and Chewy is *finally* starting to carry this line (and for quite abut cheaper than stores...$0.91 vs $1.10/$1.25).

I also decided to try Halo again on a whim (was previously despised) and my crew likes all the Impulse line flavors.

I will be trying a food by Health Extensions with my next Chewy order. Hoping this one is well received as the price point is good for me and the food meets my guidelines. The company is releasing several new flavors soon.

Other foods I've recently tried:
Bravo (cats gave it a 3/5)

Dave's (the turkey and chicken/white fish flavors were well received...but the food contains carrageenan, so will only feed occasionally)

PureVita (decent food, smells a lot like baby food...initial taste test did not go well.)

Castor & Pollux Organix (the turkey was surprisingly well accepted. Will be trying chicken soon.)

Curious to see if anyone else has anything to offer. I'm considering trying Red Barn naturals and Spring Naturals. My crew mostly wastes pâté and I try to stay away from carrageenan/agar-agar as much as possible.

I haven't tried anything new lately.  Have you considered Natural Planet Organics chicken formula?  If you are looking for carrageenan-free (if I remember from your other posts), the company rep told me that they removed the carrageenan from their chicken formula late January. You may want to follow up, not sure when the new product is on the market. Ingredients are pretty simple - no veggies and all organic meat.

I was interested in their turkey but it's still TBA as far as carrageenan removal.  Other than that, the only other new product I know of coming out is Whole Life freeze dried (cooked) food, chicken/duck combo and chicken/salmon. Should be out in March if not already.

Also, Mauri is changing their line somewhat. They removed all the gums from their food (3) replaced with "dried egg product" and will no longer be called Mauri - they are changing their name, "Koha"

Hi Bonepicker,
I found this link helpful on looking up what to find my cat.

Check out: http://www.cornucopia.org/pet-food-guide/

They have a nice grid showing whats each brand has.  It pretty much covers a lot of the main brands.  This made it much easier than trying to pick up and read each of the labels at the store.

My guy is trying a raw diet now but I used some of the cans on this list.  He seemed to like the Blue Wilderness but according to this grid it had Carrageenan so we are trying some of the other stuff on here.

Hope this helps!

Yes thanks for the tips, my cats enjoy red barn tricky chicky now replaced by chicken stew with green lipid mussels. I bought up some leftovers of the old recipe at Amazon, I will try muse, is it pate or bits? Mine like the quail impulse. They aren't as crazy about anything as much as Merrick, which I am afraid of using too much since it was bought out.

The Muse comes in pate, flaked and shredded. The pate is grain-free, as is the shredded (which is real meat and comes in a round tray.) The flaked contains wheat gluten. [emoji]128545[/emoji]

Muse use to be sold only at Petsmart, but Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, Amazon and, now Chewy, is selling it. I'm sure there are others. Chewy has the best prices, but also the smallest selection at the moment.

My guy really likes Nature's Variety Limited Ingredient food, in particular the duck. Seems to be a very high quality product

My crew only eats the cans. Their favorite is the Salmon and shrimp formula, followed by the Natural Chicken formula, and then the Ocean Fish and Mackerel. They are not fans of the Chicken and Carrot or the Turkey formulas. The Salmon is hit or miss.

My parents' cats LOVE all of the tray flavors. My crew just isn't good at eating the shredded meat foods.

I don't feed any of the canned "gravy" flavors as these are the ones that contain wheat gluten.

It looks like they all have fish of some type! Have you tried Nutro Natural choice, several flavors have no carageenan, and they have non pates. Fussie cat has several without carageenan now.

Yes, they do all contain some fish, something I'm ok with in my rotation as this and BFF's Tuna & Pumpkin are the only fishy foods I feed.

One of mine only eats Instinct LID Turkey (took 2 years to wean him off Gerber Turkey...he was also eating dry food, so no worry for unbalanced diet.). And, he'll only eat the food if it comes out of the 3 oz can...[emoji]128529[/emoji]The others won't touch it. Hoping they'll eventually change their minds.

If you've never tried Castor & Pollux's Organix it's worth a try as well.

My pals like NVI, I've tried pretty much all of the varieties when they started losing interest in the chicken and turkey. Now they gobble those up in a once a week rotation. They're less enthusiastic about Merrick and Whole Earth Farms, but do finish their servings. They also like Hound & Gatos, I've tried the Lamb, Chicken & Salmon and Pork. They warmed up to both on the 2nd & 3rd servings. The lamb combination seemed to help acclimate them to lamb quicker. Good luck.

I have only tried chicken in NVI and they were not having it! Is that one less tasty than other flavors do you think?

I shall try duck and rabbit, mine like it in pride but it has pork and turkey in it.

Mine will eat chicken but don't want it more than about once a week, including different brands. In NVI they prefer rabbit, but will eat all as long as its in a rotation. They also tire of turkey, but gobble it up on rotation, which is generally a single source of animal protein per day. A big hit yesterday was Soulistic chicken dinner in gelee pate & shreds. I can see buying more as the shreds provide a different texture and keeps them interested. Less expensive than NVI & Hound & Gatos isn't a bad thing either. Found these at Petco, but will probably order a case on Chewy.

I noticed many of the Soulistic choices included fish & or carrageenan, the pate & sheds did not. As always check the ingredient list, good luck.

Yes I feed that plus good Kharma in green can, neither have fish. I mix the good Kharma shreds with the Merrick pates. It end up like the one you described only more, I use 5 oz Merrick can with 3 oz Soulistic good Kharma.
