Please take him and the part you cut off. If it has to be, it would be better to put him to sleep than let him die a long and painful death.

Is there any hope if I went to another vet or I'll only be torturing him ?

Take him to a vet if they really can't do anything than he will at least be euthanized humanely. Feel horrible for the baby and I really hate vets like that.

I think he will need to be put to sleep.

Even babies who are surgically repaired often can't survive the surgery, they are just so fragile that he was doomed from the start.

Very sad I know, and nothing you did or didn't do would have saved him or made things worse.

It happens, and he was one of the unlucky little punkins :(

:hugs:

I would call another vet, I don't know how much they could do for the kitten but they would be able to end his suffering if necessary.

I'm sorry.  The last time I saw a picture like that it was the intestines and the vet did put the kitten to sleep.  How are mom and the other kittens doing?

I am here feeling awful, I gave you my advice on assumptions.

I assumed you knew what a cord would look like since this was baby #4, I assumed the cord was short as they sometimes are and was hidden behind the leg in the first pic.

I should have clicked on the picture to enlarge it so I could see better.

I also assumed the vet who told you to cut it off knew what he was telling you.

I have had/seen babies with intestines on the outside, but not hanging like placenta does.

I know it happens sometimes, but it has never happened to me, giving the wrong advice.

I even had to cancel my appt I had, I'm in no state to be interviewing staff now.

So sorry for this baby, and feel for you.

Oh that poor baby!

I'm no expert, but I can tell you I've seen a lot of kitty babies born, and that doesn't look like cord. They are very small and actually look like a cord.  I agree that looks like intestines.

I'd be going to another vet right now if that one doesn't seem interested, even if it meant a long drive.  There are so many things that can go horribly wrong very quickly if it is intestine that was tied and cut, that could be very agonizing to the kitty if not already...and I personally would rather a vet euthanize than leave it to live or die on it's own from the rest of it's intestines dying. At least if that is what it was you will be there and he can end the suffering.  So sorry you and the baby are going through this.

I went to another vet and he said it's the intestine unfortunately we have nothing to do but wait for the next 3 or 4 days and if the kitten is still alive I should go back to him to do any possible thing for him to survive.
Thank you all for your efforts I appreciate your caring

Wow, I'm surprised he said to wait and see basically.

So even him seeing what was cut off, he did not recommend euthanization?

Intestines he can live without?? That's different...........

Yeah. Yikes. I would consider finding a third vet and putting him to sleep. I know that's such a sand outcome, but he's in a lot of pain and unlikely to thrive.

He told me he isn't in pain because I tied the intestines with a dental floss before cutting and he said there could be hope so he doesn't want to kill him

Did he give you anything to prevent the opening from getting infected?

I'm so glad he may still be okay. I feared the worst. Please by all means keep the opening clean and gently wash with an antibiotic soap and water.

I really rather not break it to you, but if you tied something intestine wise off, then cut it, it's not going to end will for the kitty. How on earth does any Vet think this little one will be able to pass waste or anything at all for that matter. I strongly suggest you have this little one put down. I'm not one to give up on them, not at all but I can't imagine the pain he must be going through. Are you in the US by any chance? If cost if a factor, perhaps if you explained what is wrong with him they would help you somehow for his sake.

I can only figure that the other end that once it was cut is already either bleeding or dying inside him. Again, I'm very sorry.

I'm really trying to figure that out myself, I hate to always be doubting the vet, since he saw it in person, but still, can't imagine how he could live through this.

When she tied it off, she probably tied both ends together. The intestine was a loop - there would not have been loose end. Of course, these ends will have to be sewn together if he is to survive.
