I am 78, Anne and must move to a room in a house where Roz cannot live.

I rescued her about 6 years ago during that month of heavy rain.

Neighbors moved out and left Roz.

She is a love, clean, healthy, indoors cat, Domestic Shorthair, dear little cat.

She has her shots for the year and I will provide food for her for up to 6 months to her new people.

She sleeps with me so she is indeed like dear family -- a child to me.

My niece is a loving animal trainer in St. Louis.

She opts that would not see Roz anymore after she has a new family.

That way, my niece says, the cat bonds quickly to the new people.

But I would certainly welcome SKYPE visits.

Please call to let me know if a new family will take a look at Roz.

I live in Santa Clara, CA. .

Thank you, JUDE

p/s:  Roz is very polite.

Hi
Unfortunately this is an international forum, so chances of your finding someone here who is willing to take your cat are very small.

Is there any way you can move somewhere where you are able to keep Roz with you? As you say she is part of your family. Sadly, it is very difficult for senior cats to find homes. Most people would rather have a kitten, or barring that a cat under 3 years old.

If you must part from her, try putting signs in vet offices. You could also advertise on Craigslist. If you do this always charge a small adoption fee to weed out people who might want the cat for bad purposes. You may also have to call shelters in your area and see if any are willing or able to take her. Be aware that if the shelters are not no-kill it's very likely that at her age she'll simply be euthanized there.

Sorry if this seems bleak but the truth is it's very hard to find a loving home for older cats.  Best of luck in trying to figure this out.

There are many rescue groups in your area.  If you do a Google search for "cat rescue group santa clara california" you will come up with many organizations.

Hopefully they would be willing to post your cat on their "adoptable cats" web sites and maybe help you with finding her a new home or even place her in foster care with one of their groups.  Also, you might be able to take her with you to the new place if in fact you have your OWN room and could keep her there with you, at least until you find someone who will take her and give her a permanent loving home.  Here are just a few that I found with my own Google search.  The first one contains a list of no-kill shelters in your area as well.

One of our Advisors, @catwoman707, is involved in rescue in California as well, and she may be able to give you more information.

I just began fostering for Purrfect Cat Rescue in Newark CA.  They have owner assist adoptions.  Basically you would bring your cat to adoption events which are held Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Newpark Mall in Newark. 20 or 30 minutes from Santa Clara depending on traffic.  You can get the info and forms from the web site.

www.Purrfectcatrescue.org.

You can also try Tail Chaser Rescue, they put their cats and dogs up on Petfinder.com and Craigslist.com.  If you do not have a lot of time to find a home, Jori may try to find a foster home for your cat.

Contact them quickly, kitten season is almost here and the foster homes will fill quickly.

IF you can find an adopter, I may be able to refer you to a transportation group, run by volunteers.  PM me if this becomes something you need.

Hi there,

Roz is able to move with me!

After rescuing here from a tenant neighbor who put her out when they moved, I'm not about to put her out again.

Thought I'd have to move out of town to countryside for cheaper rent in order to keep Roz.

But I found a roommate situation near where I am living now, that sounds fine and the woman likes animals.

Roz will adjust, of course, because I'll be giving her hugs, petting, and reassurance.

She is a darling who climbs on my chest many nights when I go to bed then she settles nearby in the cozy blankets.

Tk U very much for all good emails.

I hope all kittens and elder cats can find good homes.

This site certainly helps!  Ciao, Jude

Oh I'm so happy to read this news!
I had been making inquiries on Roz' behalf here in Monterey--I was worried about her.  I'm very happy it worked out.

So happy for BOTH of you!  I was so upset that you would have to rehome your beloved cat.  I can rest easier now.

I hope that you will become a regular here.
