Ok so I recently discovered my 3 year old cat Nyla is pregnant! But I don't know how if she did not come in contact with another cat. She rarely goes outside like probably every 8 months. So how is she pregnant?

Well, short of an immaculate conception, if she's pregnant she certainly did come in contact with another cat. ;)

It doesn't take much, cats get pregnant very easily. If she went outside once even for just a few minutes and there happened to be a Tom around, that's more than enough opportunity. If you want to avoid a pregnant cat, having her spayed is the only way to ensure it. (Plus it's much better for her health in the long run!)

Anyway, if she is pregnant, knowing how it happened isn't really all that important now. The important thing is learning how to care for and help her through it. I'm brand new here but I can already tell you you came to the right place! Folks here are very knowledgable and helpful. :)

First off, though, how do you know she is pregnant? Was it confirmed by your vet or are you just guessing based on symptoms?

Well, her nipples have started to to swell up A LOT, and there pinker than normaly. And also she is consuming more food than usual and water. And she hasn't been in heat at all lately. And yes I'm gonna take her to the vet to check her out

Sounds like she could be, especially if she hasn't gone into heat according to her typical heat cycle schedule. If you can remember the last time you noticed her being in heat that may give you a good starting spot to guess as to her due date, if she is pregnant she was bred either during the last heat cycle you observed or the one after it (she could have been bred at the very beginning of her next heat cycle and you'd not have noticed her being in heat for so short a time)

But it's far from certain, there could be any number of explanations for the changes. Definitely get her into the vet asap.

She sounds pregnant, but getting her checked by the vet is best. Let us know what the vet says. If she's pregnant, we can share links with excellent information, unless you prefer to go ahead with a spay/termination.

If your cat lays on the hard wood floor, would that also be a symptom/sign? I'm pretty sure because my cat doesn't do that normally!

Ok so I know it's pretty late to say this but my cat had 2 kittens in March but they were premature and didn't make it. The first one she had didn't make it obviously so we took my cat to the Animal Hospital to get checked out and there was one more kitten in there. Later that day she had it and that was it! But she's going back to the vet to get spayed! Thought I would just randomly say that lol!:chescat:

Ok so apparently my cat got pregnant again. I don't know how it happened! I never ever let her outside but she only looks out the windows. I can't tell how many weeks she is. Can you guys tell me?

I've looked at many websites about it and I can't tell. Also, I've been trying to take her to the vet but due to a VERY busy schedule I cannot have a free day. This month has been crazy.

No, it's hard to say from a picture.

When was her last kitten born? She had to have mated with an unneutered male since then in order to be pregnant. Do you have any intact male cats in your home? If not, then she got out.

If there's no way she could be pregnant, then she needs to be checked by a vet ASAP for pyometra, which is a dangerous uterine infection that can cause a cat to swell and appear pregnant.

You need to get her to the vet somehow!
