My husband and I are going away next week so I've been packing.

I am the worst overpacker in the world! :lol3: I pack for every possible weather and for any possible situation that could arise. :lol3: We're traveling by car, so I do have plenty of room. I don't know what I will do when I have to pack for a airplane flight! :lol3:

Do you usually overpack and do you just pack the necessities?

Omg, yes, I overpack. Mainly because I never know what the weather will be like, or how many layers I'll need, or how many times I'll need to change because I've been sweating too much. And I always bring "extras just in case" :lol3:

Only necessities here.  I only like to take carry-on luggage so I pack my electronics/camera/toiletries in a small backpack for my 'personal item' and then very versatile clothing in a carry-on.  I have slacks with bottoms that zip off so they can be worn as shorts, jackets with sleeves that zip off to be a vest, quick dry underclothes so I don't need to take as many sets, things like that.

I mostly only take practical items, so I may not be the most stylish person on the trip
but packing is easy and light.

I definitely overpack - there are way too many things I "might" need, but rarely end up putting on or using.

I learned how to pack for what I needed during Girl Scout trips where I had to carry my own bags. I traveled around Ireland for a month with only a small backpack and carry on roller. So no overpacking for me.

I spent a long time back packing so I'm very good at under packing. When you have to carry everything by yourself for who knows how far, usually in the rain, you soon learn that you can get by with a lot less clothes and toiletries than you thought.

Nope.  I'm a minimal packer.  I can pack for a week in a medium small carry on bag.

I'm a minimal packer. I'm super girly but I am the queen of figuring out how to do a bunch of different outfits with minimal clothing. For 7 days... I'll usually take a couple cardigans, 5 tops, a semi casual dress, and 1 pair of jeans, a capri, shorts, a pair of sneakers, a pair of sandals, and dressier flats. Then I can just mix and match depending on what I'm doing that day.  I also always wear the bulkiest clothing on the plane, so usually jeans and tennis shoes since they take up so much room. I just did a 10 day trip last summer with just a carry on sized roller suitcase.

I definitely overpack. I bring extras of everything, just in case.
Our last trip, Nick convinced me to bring only the essentials, and I ended up regretting it. There were so many things I wanted to bring along and ended up needing!

I always say that the weight of luggage and the time it takes for it are inversely proportional to a traveler's experience.

I used to, but since I've traveled a lot for work I have it pretty figured out. I almost always use or wear everything I pack with maybe a couple things leftover as extras just in case.
