So my new kitten Sarah is going for her Spay & a couple of days and I have a couple of options. But I need some advice. One option is to take her to a very well rated vet clinic that offers a spay with pain medications and some blood work, but it's expensive and the other option is to spay with no pain meds or blood work. But it's also a lot cheaper. My main concern is her having to go through a lot of pain, and I don't want to do that to her. So wondering should I pay the more expensive procedure to make sure that she's well taken care of or go the inexpensive route? I don't have much experience with these types of things, I just want to make sure my little baby is well taken care of :)

Can you do the low cost spay but request that  they subscribe pain meds and you will cover the cost?

I did the low cost spay and they didn't inform me that she didn't get any pain meds. I had to take her back for meds 2days later because she wouldn't eat.

As part of my kitten being spayed they gave her inclusive pain meds during the op, which supposedly lasted about half a day after the op then we were prescribed further pain meds for 3 days (as needed) to take home.

When i got my kitten home she was screaming in pain for about a day so in a way i was glad we had the extra pain meds. The vet who saw her 3 days after for check on her stitches said it's usually most painful for a day afterwards and after that not so bad as cats (kittens) heal so fast.

I have read somewhere that some other countries (i live in UK) do not routinely give pain med aftercare but i guess to be on safe side if it was me i would opt for the more expensive option. I hope this helps somewhat.
