it is with a heavy heart and teary eyes that i report my beloved 17yr old ralph has passed on -- lung cancer -- almost a year to day that his sister, moxy, passed. i had these cats for almost 20 years. i feel lost without them. an era has ended. they saw me through many rough patches, but in the end i couldnt help them except by taking away their pain. i like to think they have been reunited in a better place. they will always be a part of me. i miss you guys and love you to no end.

I'm so sad to hear about Ralph.
He was such a beautiful boy and looks so sweet cuddled up with Moxy.  I know what you mean about it feeling like the end an era - I felt like that when my 19 year old cat passed.  No matter how long they stay with us, it is never enough.  You gave Ralph a wonderful home and in the end, gave him the greatest gift of all - an end to his suffering.  I hope that he and Moxy have been reunited and are now cuddling again.  Though this pain will be with you for a long time, I hope you will someday find comfort in memories of happier times.

RIP Ralph

I'm very sorry to read this.  It's so hard losing them when they've been a part of our lives and hearts for so long.  My thoughts are with you.  Rest in peace, Ralph.

Our cats age like a fine wine distilled to our own personal taste. Wise souls that know how to please us while manipulating us with grace to meet their needs. Your lives intertwined by the years. I am sorry for your loss. You are right , it is like an era is gone.

I, too, somehow think life changes forever when we lose a part of our lives that has been with us so long.  The 'emptiness' is hard to explain, but it goes far beyond just the physical loss of their presence, it leaves a mark on our very soul. Just like when we lose the generation of grandparents and parents before us, somehow we adjust and go on with our lives as it has been for millions of years. They love us with such an uncomplicated love, never criticizing or blaming us for wrongs in their life, and it is right to let them into our hearts and for them to be a part of our family,

My heart goes out to you in your time of grief, it will take a long time to heal that hole in your house and your heart. But you loved those two precious little souls and that is all they ever wanted out of life. In return they loved you back and brought something in to your life that can never be duplicated. It is a special and wonderful thing to be loved by a cat, you have to earn that love and respect, but once you have it, it is yours forever. Nothing can ever take that love away from you as long as you are alive, you have  precious memories to comfort you in your time of need, and you have their love to dwell in your heart, a legacy of love that they leave you to pass on once again in that great circle of life. Try to not dwell on the end, but to celebrate what they brought into your life, and fill that life with sunshine and happiness to light up that special place they inhabit in your heart. They would never want you to be sad when you remember them. Thank you for letting us know of these special little souls, so that we can mourn their passing with you and share the sorrow. Take care.........RIP sweet Ralphy , may your journey be swift to the Rainbow Bridge, where you will rejoin your sister and light up the heavens with your shining new star!

No matter how much you love all cats the ones that you live with for years become an important part of your daily life and routines. When an old friend passes all of those daily routines pass with them. 20 years is longer than many marriages last.

My heart breaks as I read this. Your Ralphie was a beautiful cat, and the timing of his crossing was no coincidence. I truly believe that he felt it was time to go. I know what it is like to feel like you have lost everything when you lose a wonderful cat such as Ralphie. For me, losing my Midnight was one of the most troubling periods of my life, and even to this day, there is still a part of me that feels her crossing profoundly. Cancer is an insidious beast; it doesn't care who or what it affects, be it human or animal. And it leaves those scars that are not visibly seen. But please take comfort in the fact that your sweet angel, and his sister, grew up in a loving home, and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you did everything possible to help him live as comfortable as he could be, given the circumstance, in his final days on this earth. Know then, that he hurts no longer; he is free, happy and healthy, playing with his sister and all the other kitties and puppies beyong the Bridge crossing. He misses you, surely as you miss him. But there will be that day when the toils that we have upon this world will no longer be yours to endure; you'll take your own journey of graduation, and once again, you will hold those precious furry angels in your arms. Hold on to this, think of this, and smile. But for now, grieve. It is all part of the process. Let it all go. A huge hug from me to you.

Rest in eternal peace, blessed angel. Ralphie eternal.

With pain my heart and tears in my eyes I read your post. I am sorry that you have to take leave from your beloved Ralph.

What a lovely pair of cats. Nothing can replace the love that those two cats gave you for 20 years. Life will not be the same after their departure to the Rainbow Bridge. There is no medicine for the pain you are experiencing. Your eyes will be red and the pillow will be wet with your tears. Those who read your post will share your pain and anguish. An era has ended but the memories are NOT erased. We are all servants of our sweet, beloved cats. My heartfelt sympathies are with you.

I lost my Jethro in April 2015. I speak to him every day as if he’s still with me. His photographs are next me. I carry his pictures in my phone. Even though your Ralph and Moxy left you, but they haven’t left your heart. They will remain with you in your heart.
