A few months ago a stray kitty decided to come into my house and make it its own. My husband and i decided to keep it. Since she was not use to being inside we would let her out and she would come back. We believe in one of her outings she became pregnant. About 3 weeks ago trying to be responsible parents we took her to petco to get vaccinated. At this point she was starting to show but we were not sure. She's been growing since. But i did some research and found that the vaccines can kill her babies. About a week and a half ago she asked to be rubbed and i noticed her nipples were bigger. Now i don't know what to do. I have not seen a vet yet, im afraid they'll tell me her babies are dead. Please help!

She really needs a vet visit. Mostly so that your vet an confirm pregnancy or not and then also to give you an idea of how many kittens to expect. Ideally your vet will have access to an ultrasound to check the status of the babies' hearts.

Yes, there can certainly be complications when vaccines are given to a pregnant momma. You can also discuss this with your vet.

Momma will also need to be dewormed before babies arrive and she needs to be checked for fleas.

Please keep her indoors only for now.

Also, you need to realistically think if you can afford to care for the kittens if she is pregnant. Will you keep the babies or will you try and rehome them? While it is not the easiest decision, the is the option to do a spay/abort if kitty is not too far along in a pregnancy.

Regardless of your decision, kitty needs to see a vet sooner rather than later.

In addition to the option of a spay/abort, please do give some thought to spaying this cat after she delivers the babies. There are many advantages to spaying a cat both for the cat (she will be less likely to get cancer, and more likely to live longer and healthier in general) and also for you, Here is an article about this: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/spay-and-neuter-your-cats

Although the cost of a spay can seem large,  it is typically much less than you'll actually spend to do even the minimum that a responsible pet owner has to do for a pregnant cat and then for the kittens after they are born- if you are a responsible owner you will end up incurring signifigant additional vet and food costs over that time that will equal far more than the cost of a one time spay, to say nothing of the time and effort that finding the kittens homes (if you rehome them-if you don't your expenses will obviously be even more) will take.

Assuming she is pregnant and you choose not to spay and abort, we have a good collection of articles in the Cat Health section which you can access by scrolling up to the brown bar, clicking on Articles, and then choosing the Cat Health section and scrolling through the choices.  To make this super easy for you, I am copying the links regarding birth, delivery and newborns for you here.  After reading this information, let us know if you have any more questions.  And good luck with your approaching new arrivals.

Thank you for all the info. We have decide to look for homes for the kitties and she will definitely be spayed as soon as possible. We did think about stopping her pregnancy but i just couldn't bear the thought of it. We know it it cost more to have them but we are hoping to find them good homes.
