This is a fairly new title in the CFA. It takes 3 years to earn, with 30 finals a year, with no more than  10 Specialty finals allowed each year.  Jack is in his final year - he needs 6 more All Breed finals to go to earn it. Keep your fingers crossed that we do it since we only have two more shows to go before the end of the season - provided I can get the time off from work to do them. Here he is with a judge that finaled him this past weekend. He is retiring

after this season, other than doing occasional shows. If he gets the title, he will be the first silver and golden Persian in CFA history to earn it.

If I could vote, he'd have it.  What a beautiful boy.  He's just purely majestic.

Jack is a real stunner.   He has a regal presence, too.  Add my "vote" to all the others!

Shaded cats ( silver or golden) as well as the chinchilla versions must have green or blue green eyes. Any other color is a disqualification in the show hall. My avatar photo is of Jack. In it you can see his eye color. Thanks for the compliments and vote of confidence everyone!

Thanks everyone. My boss may have messed us up on the quest. I asked for vacation time to do the last show and was told I may not get it since I am in management and it is close to a holiday. I asked since it is not a 'black out week' on our work calendar where no one can have time off. I will find out later. it will be AWFUL to get this close and not be able to finish!! That is the only show close enough to me to enter.

Do you have anyone who can take him as your agent if you can't go to the show yourself?

Unfortunately I only know one person that is close enough for me to get Jack to for the show - and since she is judging the show, she can't show him for me. I may have to try to do another far away show if I find out that I can't do the close one. I  hate the idea of driving 6+ hours to a show  and spending the money on a hotel. I commute when it is 3 or less hours away.

Wow, my sister has had that problem with dog shows, except she was in the other person's place (she was judging so couldn't be the handler). She's traveled to shows across the country several times though to finish her or others's dogs.

Your kitty is absolutely gorgeous! Crossing fingers that you are able to get the time off and that she wins!! :D

Thank you and Jack (the cat) thanks you. Showing is getting to be cost prohibitive for the general person. I have cut back on my showing tremendously and limit my travels to within 6 hours of home. There are a couple of shows out west I would like to try, but probably never will due to distance. Our farthest trip has been about 1000 miles to our specialty show. It isn't unusual for an exhibitor who is traveling to shows to spend upwards of $500 in a weekend. Most show several times a month (3 out of 4 weekends roughly). Not to many middle class people that I know can spend $1500 a month on a hobby!

Hmm that could be why my sister switched from breeding and showing her own dogs, to not breeding and showing others' dogs. I think she did that back in the early 90s maybe? I forget when the last litter of puppies we had was born, probably the late 80s. Was a little kid then so the memory of that time is a bit fuzzy. She very rarely does the handling these days, but rather does judging and (even more often) photography. That particular hobby lets her MAKE money at dog shows!

Jack is absolute purrfection in my humble opinion. :D Good luck on your quest! As those kind of costs add up, I don't know how anyone can afford this as a "hobby".

Not everyone spends that kind of money. It is just that clubs are not producing shows like they used to so if you want to show often, travel is required. That is where it gets expensive. In my area alone since I started showing we have lost 4 shows within reasonable driving distance. When I started I showed maybe twice a month, now it I am lucky if I do 1 show every couple of months.

The good news is we can do the show that I posted about. My immediate boss had scheduled me to work, but his boss vetoed it. She had him redo the schedule to give me my vacation time.
