‘There are many responsible colony caretakers providing humane population control of the species through TNRM (trap neuter return manage) I would urge you to support these responsible colony caretakers who have been doing the county's and state’s job for them for years by taking on the personal responsibility of controlling populations. It is humans that have created the over population of cats by being irresponsible owners and dumping, abandoning and casting off owned animals to become free roaming.’

Please consider contacting senators Nishihara and Wakai to state your opposition to the plans, and to give your support to TNRM programmes and penalties for those who abandon their pets.

I'm sorry to hear Hawaii is taking this approach.  i don't live in Hawaii so don't know if my signature will mean anything but I hope it is possible to stop this bill from passing.

Our 16 year old Mok-Mok is from Maui. We took him in from the infant TSNR program in 2001 when it was first implemented, he was the 409th one to be trapped, neutered and released to our care. The sister of the landlord of our business location was the co-sponsor of the orig TSNR bill, but it seems it has failed due to poor management. It's a shame and unfortunately, no, non-resident signatures don't help much on most SB's

Our feral cat program is alive and well here on Maui. The Maui Humane Society has been putting on MASH clinics which are free of charge spay and neuters. They have trappers going out to areas and mass trapping. They fixed 800 (maybe high 700's) last week. Volunteer vets and techs are flying out from the mainland and working the clinics with vets and techs from Maui. Its the second big clinic they have done. SPCA is also doing clinics when possible. This attempt at a law is really pissing people off over here. I have a cat colony that Ive had for years, started with over 30 cats and there are only 8 left, which is how it is supposed to work. They are big fat happy cats with no interest in hunting. Signing the petition may not help, I e mailed the legislators. Wish us luck.
