My Lil Bit is pregnant. She has always been picky with food. I have tried everything in the last few weeks to get her to eat. She barely eats a half of a 3 ounce can of Fancy Feast classic or kitten. She will eat about a half cup or so of dry Fancy Feast a day. She prefers chicken or turkey foods. The only thing I have seen her eat all of is the Fancy Feast broths. They are so expensive that its a treat thing.

The problem is for the last week she has been begging for people food. At dinner time she will come and sit at my feet and paw at me to get my attention. I have gave in to her when I have chicken. As soon as she is finished she begs for more. Today I seen her in the garbage can trying to eat pudding that my daughter didn't finish. She was trying to get a raw egg that fell in the floor. She has only been fed can/dry food. Why has she developed a want for human food all of a sudden? Is it normal? Should I try her on new foods? I want the best for her and the kittens.

She will be spayed as soon as she is able to she will be spayed.

most human foods are OK for cats.  They are not necessarily the premium choice, but few are directly bad, and most are OK. Raw egg is ok, especielly the yolk is good.

Since you want her to eat more, mix a raw egg yolk into her dry food every day. Boil chicken and cut it up for her. She can have small pieces of pork, steak, and ham. She can have plain, white rice. Never any onions or garlic! Those are toxic to cats. Continue to offer chicken and turkey Fancy Feast.

Pregnant cats are usually hungry cats. She needs to have kitten chow and a bowl of water available 24/7. It's possible she has felt semi-nauseous from early pregnancy, but this will pass.

Continue to use this same thread for all of your cat questions. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Did she wind up escaping and getting outside? I know you were trying to get her spayed last month.

If she's begging, it sounds like she is hungry. I thought my cat wasn't particularly food motivated until I tried new proteins and she went crazy for it. Try all different kitten wet and dry foods. As you said, she may just be picky.

Yeah the voucher kept getting help up and she got out one morning when bf went to work. She was out for a few hours before I got up and noticed. Her last heat was January 23rd and she got out on the 25th. I am guessing she is due the week of Easter from the websites I have seen.

She has a vet appointment on Friday to confirm but she hasn't been in heat since and her teats are pink. She has been really loving and playful. She has even allowed my bf to pet her. Which never happened before. Can she have ground beef? If so I will go cook some up now. She seems hungry but wont eat nothing I offer her. I am going to buy a mix of food for her Friday while at the vet, they are in Pet Smart.

Ground beef or turkey is ok as long as it is completely plain, no garlic or onion. She also has to eat some cat food or get supplemental nutrients including taurine. You can buy this as a mix if you will be cooking for her entirely.

If you are using Banfield vets, please do your research before you allow them to prescribe anything for your cat. They are relatively affordable and convenient, but I have heard mixed reviews of their quality of care.

I just wanted to update all of you on Lil Bit. She is eating so well today. So far she has ate a can and a half of Fancy Fest. She has also ate a whole pouch of the Fancy Fest Broths. I have switched her dry food to a grain free brand she is not to happy with it but is eating some of it.

Sorry I haven't updated. My daughter ended up having dental surgery that day so I had to cancel. If all goes well I hope to have her there next week.

The grain free food I bought she hates. But has been eating up to three cans of FF a day. She prefers the grilled variety. Is three 3 ounce cans enough for her at this stage? She is tiny at around 7 pounds.

Why don't you give her dry kitten chow too?
The dry I bought was for kittens and adults. I have to buy some Kitten chow. I dont know if Kroger will let me exchange this bag or not its only had a cup taken out. If not I can keep for the kittens. Its really small perfect for kittens learning to eat.

That food sounds like it would be fine while she's pregnant.

So cute.  They start to show around 5 weeks.  Next milestone will be seeing the kittens moving.

I was able to get her some Purina Kitten chow for her yesterday. I know its not the best in the world but that is what she will eat. She also had three cans of fancy feast yesterday. I got her some more of the grilled variety and she eats almost all of it during one sitting. Even eating all of that she is still trying to get our food.

The Purina kitten chow is fine. It's dense with nutrients and high in calories, which is what she needs, and the Fancy Feast is awesome! I suggest you put her in a room and close the door while you eat, then give her a tiny taste of your food afterwards in her cat bowl. She needs to learn! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Thank you. She was never like this until she got pregnant. She has even gotten to where she wants the kids chocolate milk and she wants ice cream. I am constantly going behind the kids picking up so she wont get into it. I don't want her getting sick on me. Today I caught her licking on a vanilla Oreo. LOL she is getting as hard to look after as the kids. This will settle down after she has them wont it?

She will still need extra food while nursing. Is she getting enough wet food and dry food?

I keep dry food out all day long about I put about a cup in the bowl of the morning. I have opened four cans of food for her today she didn't eat all of it though. She also had some Temptation treats. I gave in and gave her some gravy I fixed and she licked it and quit begging. I guess she was just curious in the smell.
