Amazon just increased their free shipping minimum requirement of $35 to $49

http://www.cnet.com/news/amazons-free-shipping-now-costs-you-at-least-49/

It looks like Amazon wants more people to join Prime.

I don't order much from Amazon but when I do I usually just meet the $35 for free shipping. Now I have to buy additional stuff to avoid paying for shipping
For you non-Prime members, will this affect your shopping on Amazon? I've read comments from Amazon customers who are upset about the increase and swear they will never buy from Amazon ever again.

I'm sorry to hear that.  Still, most of the pet food sites to the same, the break point is $49.  Chewy.com is good, though, because if you don't make the $49 minimum for free shipping, they STILL only charge $4.95 no matter how heavy your order is, so that's affordable.

Some smaller items like Nutrical are now classified as addons [emoji]128520[/emoji]...the total sale has to be at least $25. Another BUMMER...

Before we had Prime, my co-worker and I would order stuff together to make the $35 limit. We'd have it shipped to work and we'd just divvy it up that way. He orders a lot of cat food treats with l-lysine. We were talking about the increase yesterday and he'd never order $49 worth of cat treats. I told him I'd order it for him, have it shipped to work and he can just pay me. It will still work out for him, as long as he can find treats that use Prime.

I think I mentioned on the other Prime thread that people from another board I lurk at were really complaining about the increase. Many of them have said, too, that they're done. They won't order from Amazon anymore.

I'm a Prime member now, but even if I weren't, I would still use Amazon. There are just some things that are much easier to find on Amazon.

I order for a co worker occasionally. She had me add her credit card and debit card along with her home address and our office address to my account. When she wants something that is Prime eligible, she send me the link and tells me which card to use and address to have them send it to.

I'd still use Amazon even if I weren't a Prime member too. My subscribe and save keeps me out of Wal Mart (AKA the 8th circle of hell)
