My cat eevee, eve for short has given birth to a baby. I don't know if its premature but its not small it looks like a fully grown kitten. She gave birth nearly 6 hours ago and there has been no other kitten. The first was non responcive even tho we tried everything. Should I be worried there's no more kittens yet as the baby may have been early.

Cats can have kittens hours and even days apart, depending on how many times they mated during their heat cycle. I'm sorry this kitten did not make it, but she may have more. Do you think she is still pregnant?

I agree with SArthur.  Im the cat seems OK, no troubles, you can calmly see and observe, and wait.   Its just if you notice she is in distress you shall be nervous and prepared to contact your vet.  This advice either you  KNOW there are more kittens in queue, or you think she is done, but are not sure.

Good you tried everything with the stillborne.  Sometimes they can be revived, typically by vigorous massaging / rubbing, and warming up.   Compare for example with that scene in the film  The 101 dalmatinan dogs.

I'm sorry the kitten didn't make it. It sounds like you tried everything you could.

Please know that your cat can get pregnant again within a week of delivering. Keep her inside and away from any intact males until she can be spayed.

She is still pregnant and kittens are still kicking. I don't know if the kitten may have been premature, no signs of or labour.

As said, be observant and be prepared as well as you can, because the situation IS touchy, but if mom isnt in any difficulties, the bookmaker bet is you can wait and see.  Usually the others kittens come out when their time has come.   Also, cats manage a somewhat too long pregnancy better than humans.

Of course, if you DO have access to a vet whom is experienced with obstetrics, its wise to contact already now, and talk it through.

With humans, this situation is no problem. You can always choose to take a cesarean.   Human children manage a somewhat premature delivery without any big troubles.

But that is not so with kittens, they dont manage well premature deliveries.  More than 3days is practically a death sentence, but even 2-3 days is dangerous and is always a fight uphill.

And many vets, wanting the best, and knowing the owner expect them to do something - do something.  Sometimes too early.  Mom is saved all right, but the kittens are often doomed.

So this is why, in this touchy situation, the best bookmaker bet is to observe closely, but wait and see.  phoning / Rushing to the vet first when you notice mom is in trouble. Long fruiless labor, high fever, bleedings more than some red colored discharge, or other visible distress.

As long mom is entirely OK, you be prepared but be calm.

I would at least call the vet and let them know what is going on so they are prepared if you need to take her in.

The sack coming out and going back in is not good.

No, it's not good, unless it's an undelivered placenta from the kitten who was stillborn.
