Hey guys
I have a question and I was wondering if anyone might have any information or suggestions for me.
I just adopted a cat about a week ago, he's about 5 years old and simply perfect in every way other than one issue that he has. When he's grooming, he tends to lick his prepuce excessively for about a minute or so, which usually results in urine leaking out (no puss, no blood, nothing weird.. just urine).
He goes to his litter box regularly and urinates and poops there no problem. He doesn't seem to struggle, goes to the box a normal amount that any cat would normally go, so I know he doesn't have a blockage of any sort.
He had an accident in the past where he jumped over a fence and hurt his spine, which required a surgery to remove his tail (he now has a bobtail), and his bones that were damaged fused, so he's fine now.
The doctor said he's had a history of urine crystals in the past, but I just did a urinalysis on Friday and she said everything is clear and fine. She gave me the unfortunate, and rather abrupt news, that it's probably just a neurological problem and that I should just return him to the vet (I adopted him from the vet)...
I don't want to give up on him that easily, I was wondering if anyone had any idea of what I could do to possibly stop this behavior? He's on Hill's C/D Urinary prescription diet, and has been for a long time (not sure if that has any impact on this issue or not). I love this little guy a lot and I would love to try to solve this issue..
