My cat, Piper, has been acting like she's in heat all morning and last night. She kept meowing and walking around the house, following me into the bathroom, and laying down in random places.

Now, she is leaking a clear discharge, and laying in the dining room. She is asleep now, I'm just worried she'll go into labor while I'm out - should I cancel my plans and stay with her instead.

I know she's about due, since she's around 9 weeks.

Thank you so much for any help!

P.S. Don't worry, I am planning on getting her spayed afterwards, as soon as it is safe to do so. I also have good homes for the kittens.

I cancelled my plans and am with Piper now. She's in my room, laying on my bed. She's leaking more clear discharge, and she was pacing around my house again, but now she's in my room.

She was meowing a lot and ate some food, and drank a bit of water. I think she is going to have them tonight, or at least this weekend.

Can anyone confirm she's going into labor?

To me that does sound like she is losing her mucus plug and first stage of labor. Is she contracting?

Sounds like they're coming! Keep a very close eye on her, and make sure she's comfortable. You can also take her rectal temperature if she's cooperative enough! A 98F reading is a sign that she's in labour, and active labour will soon follow.
I've been through this more times than I can count, and I'm well educated (with puppies too). Message me if you have any questions! I can't wait to see them. Good luck :)

Yes, I've noticed some contractions. She's laying on the towels I put out for her now, and keeps meowing until I pet her.

Thank you! She seems content laying on my bed, so I put the towels there and let her lay where she wanted. I closed her off in my room now. I'll post pictures as soon as I can!

If her discharge was watery, that would most likely be losing her waters. That leads to active labor. The mucus plug is mucus discharge and they can lose that a few days before active labor.

It's kind of watery, I think. I can't get a good look because she keeps shifting or licking it away.

If it's her losing her waters, how long until the kittens start coming? It's 8:30 now and I've been waiting since about 3:15-ish.

She slept for about an hour or two, and now she is up, ate, and drank some water. Still waiting, but I have seen more clear discharge.

There's no exact timing for cats giving birth.  Could 48 hours could be less.  No need to worry unless your cat is in distress or the color of the discharge and/or smell changes.

Piper is sleeping again, and I haven't seen any more discharge and she hasn't had any contractions or discomfort from what I can tell.
Hopefully she'll have them this weekend, thank you all for the help.

I know how hard it is waiting!!! My cat Mama lost her mucus plug a few days before she had her kitten. I was afraid to go anywhere, even to bed in case she went into labor. lol

It's so hard to wait! She woke me up at about 3 this morning, meowing pretty loud. She was sitting on the floor, moving around a lot.
I noticed she is a little thinner than before. I read they can appear thinner when the kittens move to the birth canal, but I can't see anymore clear discharge. She fell back asleep after some more meowing and begging for attention. She does wake up every so often and lick herself all over though, especially her birthing area.
I hope she has them this weekend, and if not, I might take her to the vet to make sure everything is okay.

Any more advice is greatly appreciated because my last cat's labor was totally different!

Every cat's labor will be different, just like humans. Your cat sounds like she's been at least in pre-labor, which is the body's way of preparing for the real thing. When you see her tummy rippling, that is Stage One contractions. Stage One can last up to 24 hours. If your cat has dropped, kittens will be born within 48 hours usually.

Stage Two labor is pushing. You will easily recognize this stage. If she pushes for 30 minutes to an hour with no results, you would need to call the vet.

Your cat does not sound in distress right now. Things sound as though they are normal for an end of pregnancy. If she's not in distress you do not need the vet. Please keep us posted! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Thank you so much @sarthur2 !

She was crying get out of my bedroom, so I let her out and she is roaming around the house. There's no other animals inside and I closed all the other bedroom doors so she can't really go,anywhere but the living/dining room/kitchen.
I'm keeping a close eye on her still. She isn't leaking anything (or at least I can't see) and she's acting like she is in heat again. She's rolling around on the floor, mewling, raising her rear end in the air and shifting around a lot.
I hope this is normal. I didn't see her pushing, just twitching a bit, so I figured those must be contractions?

She's been walking around like this, her belly is kind of dropped/lower than before.
Should I lay her back in my room where she was before?

She is definitely carrying them low now. I would certainly give her access to the bedroom.

I made her a few nests throughout the house where she wouldn't be disturbed. She laid in the one underneath the dining room table, and there's more clear discharge, a little more watery than before I think. She also looked like she was having more contractions.
She spent almost two hours pacing around, meowing, eating, etc. I turned off the dining room light and left a small lamp on so it's not pitch black, but dim in her area.
I made sure she won't be bothered and turned the TV volume down.
It's already been over 24 hours since this started, so hopefully she's finally found a good spot and will have them tonight...
Is it likely she'll have them soon?
