My cat is 8 years old and her voice has been hoarse for a couple of months. She has been to the vets for URI three or four times since the beginning of December. I keep telling my vet that her voice is hoarse and they have treated her with antibiotics three times, two injections and one round of doxycycline. She is still sneezy and hoarse. She does take lysine but seems to throw up after she has them for a week so then have to stop giving them to her for a while. The vet has not checked her for thyroid or heart issues. She seems to be eating normally at this time but maybe not playing quite as much.

I have to admit,  I'm really stumped on this one but hopefully someone will come along who has more experience with URIs and hoarse cats than I do.  I did do a search and learned that hoarseness can be caused by an injury to the throat or by a tumor but since your cat is also sneezing, that really suggests the URI diagnosis is accurate.  Still, it might be worth having some kind of imaging procedure done on your cat's throat just to be on the safe side.

I hope you get this mystery cleared up.  Please let us know what happens!
