Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
Acaso esa gente está loca???????? (Are those people crazy???????)

I hope that either they are joking, or either get some reason into their head. Here even crazier things have been proposed and the projects die off.

I kind of like it!
It's unique. It would be much better if it didn't affect the residential area like that though. I'd hate having the light in my house. Perhaps they should be the one's paying for new window coverings to prevent the light from bothering people?

Makes me think of those flashing motel signs seen in some movies.

Look at it this way: if they do put this up, in a year or so, you can sue the town for the effects of LavaLamp-induced Flashback Syndrome, which among other things can cause you to dress in strange retro clothing and to say 'groovy' in response to anything anyone says to you..

It's certainly very creative, no one can fault your town for that!

I think it's smart, and they're probably right - I expect it will draw visitors from the dam! (I mean - people go visit the world's largest thermometer and the world's largest ball of string! This is WAY better than that!
) I'm sure the local businesses support it. (I also happen to like lava lamps, so I think it's pretty cool). I just wonder if such a LARGE lava lamp will be as cool as the small ones?

Bummer is what about the people (like you) that live near the thing? I'd attend a couple of town meetings to find out when they're going to turn that thing off at night!

I'm kind of jealous.

Our town has nothing. I tell friends the only exciting/new thing we have is a new slushie machine at our corner store.

Attending a town meeting is a good idea. maybe have a petition ready for first.

I've got a feeling that nightime is exactly when they'll want it on since it'll probably be the time it's most noticeable.

That's scary. I would probably avoid the darned thing if I were in that area. Not visit it.

But the logistics just don't make sense. Don't they know how hot those darn things can get?

WOW, let us know when it's done and I'll be the first to visit
On the plus side, Gus loves my lava lamp and could watch it for hours, maybe your kitties will find some entertainment value in it.

Oh---my---gosh! I love lava lamps too.. but this is just a bit overboard! Why does it have to be 60ft???
Well, rest assure the thing will heat up the whole town! The little ones get hot enough. All I can picture is the shadows they make on my wall when I have all of mine turned on.. I hope your whole town isn't like that! Hope it doesn't cause a lot of traffic accidents either.. but then again i guess you'd see it coming from miles away! LOL. I really feel for you. I thought our hometown was bad. I don't know if you're familiar with Anne of Green Gables, but you can't turn around in our city without seeing a picture or a doll, or whatever. I thought that was bad, but suddenly i feel pretty lucky!
