You're supposed to have pride in where you live, right?

I live here because it is QUIET, a small town, practically deserted. Yeah, It could use some revitilization....

But come on!

They've been talking about this for a long time, it still looks like it's actually going to happen. Now look to the right hand side of the picture, right beyond the buildings, that cluster of trees. That's where I live. My yard is going to be pink....

LOL! You'll have to put aluminum foil on your windows to sleep! Bet it will bring in a lot of tourists though-

Sorry to laugh, but it is funny-

That's what they're going for, tourists. Fishing season brings tons of people THROUGH soap lake, because it is in the direct route to the lakes, but no one stops. Opening day of fishing season, I can't get across the street to the grocery store.

Maybe they'll use the giant lava lamp to blind people while they're driving so they have to stop

Actually, some do stop, to fish in soap lake. No one has the heart to tell them there are no fish in Soap Lake.

Can you imagine the size of the light bulb in the base? I still pull my lava lamp out to watch with the kitties on occasion, but imagine the heat required to heat up a 60 foot tall lava lamp.

I'm sorry that you're going to have to deal with the light in your yard. How is your town going to pay for that? Couldn't the money be used for something more useful? I know I live in a small town too and they have to be careful about not going over the town's budget. They won't even give us a traffic light.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Where do these people get their ideas from?.

We have a monument not far from where i live, i havent a clue what it's supposed to mean, but it looks like a buddah who's bending forward on a pair of ski's?!.

The best thing is, it cost the tax payer a few thousand to have it erected.

It would have been ok if they had asked we, the tax payers our views on the subject before they spent our money on a monument that the kids use to swing off!!!!.

That really does look like a wind up! Just watch your electricity bills soar. As a piece of art work it is okay and it works (but it somehow lacks imagination) but maybe it could be placed in another part of town. Do you have a problem with vandelism cos it wouldnt last 5 minutes round here.

Look at it this way: if they do put this up, in a year or so, you can sue the town for the effects of LavaLamp-induced Flashback Syndrome, which among other things can cause you to dress in strange retro clothing and to say 'groovy' in response to anything anyone says to you..

I hope for your sake they are planning to turn it off a night.
If not, it might start attracting mosquitos the size of bats!

(I have to confess that this is one of the most bizarre things that I've ever seen!)

I have to respectfully disagree with all of you. I think that is the coolest thing I have ever seen! I would love to live near that. I love lava lamps, and have 16 of them in my living room, which I turn on all at once. To each his own, I guess, but I would love watching the sun rise and set through the giant lava lamp.
